Hi All,

Just went to check in online for my flight LHR-SIN-PER tonight and both of us on the booking are Gold and our upgrades come through, so I am absolutely over the moon about it....never flown F so should be an interesting experience :) Suprising it was there 24hrs out! Very nice suprise though.

But being an overnight flight (if you could call it that!) and all what can I expect meal wise and service wise?

Also is it true a matress topper type thing is placed over the seat to make it more comfortable for sleeping and we have 5A and the middle seat in the 5th row too.

Another question, can I buy duty free in London and transit with it in Singapore or will it be taken off me when I go through security at the gate for my flight to Perth?

:)

Thanks guys

Congrats,

I have never flown F,

Look forward to a TR

If the duty free is over 100ml, you will have it confiscated at the gate in SIN.

I am fairly sure you may get asked as to where you are going, and if the answer is Australia, they won't allow you to purchase anything over 100ml.

Anything under, no issue as it forms part of your LAG allowance.

Do remember though that you are allowed to purchase >100mL duty free in Singapore and have it delivered to the gate :)

And it will probably be a lot cheaper too! The only problem is that they will only allow you to purchace it if you have a minimum 2 hours before your flight.

And that's where the problem may lie. I only had 2 hours scheduled in SIN.

Any delays and you can't do it.

Congratulations on your upgrade. We flew F to LAX from MEL for the first time on an upgrade in September and loved it. I had 5A and now it's MY seat LOL! Some say its noisy because of the galley but it is very private. If you can try to get another A seat instead of the middle row, we had 4A and 5A and it was great.

Flew A380 F on QF 127 a few mths back. Was underwhelmed rather than overwhelmed. On the same route and flight number a couple of weeks ago but J on a 747, the service exceeded expectations!

I have purchased DF many times in SIN on the way LHR-MEL with no dramas, just go straight to the duty free after landing and ask the question.

There was a quote stating that it must be purchased 2 hours before flying.

If that was the case, you would need to be quick, as there is ~2 hrs between flights.

I don't think it is hard and fast, I think the cut off is more like 1 hour.

As I said you just need to get there quick and ask the question.

Beats hanging around to buy in Melbourne and is about 20-30% cheaper for grog anyway......Tanquery S$30 from memory for 1 litre

Thanks guys :) Countdowns on until I step into hopefully a new world of flying!

No worries with DF in Singapore as I have 3.5hrs to kill between flights!

I haven't encountered the 2 hour DF cut-off in Singapore. I've ever only been told 1 hour and have purchased accordingly without problems. Is this a new rule?

Must say I am loving the JW Blue Label free pour in the first lounge in London.......very nice!!! :)

I often buy DF with only an hour to go at Singapore for delivery at the gate. Like everything else at Changi, the systems work. The DF waits for you at the entrance to the walkway, so you go through the scanners, and boarding pass check first.

I was able to purchase DF in SIN about 1hour out from departure back in July - no dramas.

I am not sure on whether it is a rule or not. I was just going on the quote below
