This is the first time I have used my QF FF OneWorld status on another airlines flights. Malaysia from PER to LHR & return. I booked through a travel agent and asked her to ensure my FF number was entered in the booking. I also asked her to request an aisle seat. Can anybody who travels often on other One World Airlines tell me how Malaysia know I am a QF Gold / Sapphire One World and will I get any priority in seat allocation? Does my FF number come up on their system as Sapphire? Or am I just another punter?? I can't seem to access my booking on the Malaysia airlines web site yet. Not sure if that is a timing thing or because I booked thru an agent..... I will try again tomorrow.
I am booked in Economy (discount fare) but I guess I can still access the Malaysia airlines or One World lounge in PER/KUL/LHR?
Any hints would be greatly appreciated. I'm leaving next Monday 18th. I'm so used to just waltzing through as a Gold QF FF I don't want to put my foot in it on a different airline if I am not entitled to....

Yes their system should recognise your oneworld status, i would call them direct for seat allocation (given theyve been in oneworld less than 2 weeks - not expecting much).

Carry your Gold QFF card with you at all times (although your boarding pass may show your status) and you'll be able to access the Golden Lounge in KUL and oneworld lounges in LHR.

Bone up on lounge access policies at oneworld.com so you can feel confident if someone gives you trouble about your privileges.

Have a great trip and do try and report back here on how it went if you can :)

forget the MH website it's stuffed, phone them if necessary

The website's "manage your booking" hasn't worked for months. I'd check-in online as early as you can and select you seat there.

Note - as discussed at length on a pervious thread - on a discount fare you probably won't earn points or status credits.

I would say the the whole Malaysian Airlines Website has barely worked since the day it was launched.

Their IT operations are extremely limited to put it politely.

I just went through this. Got the ticket number off the travel agent and called the MAS office in Sydney. The attached my FF number to the booking. Worked well so far on 2 of my 3 flights. Upgraded both times!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

simonpenny408, what class were you booked in? I'm only in O and Q.... I suspect no FF points or status credits will be forthcoming. My travel agent has got me fairly good seats on each flight though, about what I would have expected on a QF flight for gold.

I have returned after my trip. Didn't get an upgrade. Had 4 seats to myself PER/KUL, an empty seat next to me KUL/LHR. unfortunately then had a full flight LHR/KUL and in an aisle seat of 2 KUL/PER. So seating not too bad. Got into the lounges OK at PER, KUL and LHR. PER is cr*p. No loos in the lounge, you have to go out into the main terminal to use the public loos. Food/drink so so. KUL lounge quite good, food not bad. Couldn't find a cup of tea!! Coffee machines all seemed to be inoperative so went to the counter and got a latte made for me.
LHR lounge quite small. Just had a cup of tea there, didn't bother with food. Internet connection at all lounges fairly good - managed Skype with video. Checked in at the Business counters at each airport although at LHR I think she was getting ready to tell me to naff off until I told her One World Sapphire.
I was a teeny bit disappointed with MH long haul, didn't seem any much better than QF to me, yet 5* vs 4* airline. Staff OK but nothing special, not particularly friendly and didn't seem to make any special conversation with any passengers. The food I thought was very ordinary. No paper menu supplied, very uninteresting choices. They also didn't seem to offer snacks in between meals on the a380 unlike QF who come around with a little snack bag also containing a bottle of water which you can easily refill yourself. MH come down every couple of hours with trays of plastic cups of water/juice. Finished up quite thirsty because they didn't exactly invite you to go and get more from the galley. I know I could probably have done so or buzzed them but I prefer the QF way so I am not bothering anybody and I don't have to wait. My fault.
Anyway, I will probably fly MH again when the price is right as QF is so bl**dy expensive!

While MH Manage my Booking is pretty poor, the Online Checkin is actually OK.

I had called up 3-day before and had my Qantas FF number added.

Then was able to login right on the 48-hr window.
Lets you alter/ add your FF number.
Lets you select your seat - I had been preallocated a window down the back, but got it closer to the front... Appeared to be a very low sequence (Security) number but most of the front few rows in the cabin taken.

And prints out a nice PDF boarding pass - with my Emerald status and QF number shown.
(details edited to protect the innocent!)
