Apologies if previously posted but I did a search and didn't find it.
Hong Kong Airways flying 3 days a week from Gold Coast to Hong Kong in A333 and are offering business class, flat seats, for $1950
return. Booked an associate recently who normally uses Qantas and the report back was excellent. One hour transit in Cairns each way.

Any special dates?. I see reviews are mixed.
No specific dates. Web site can be difficult. I rang them recently about continuing on to Vancouver and was advised that flights from Hong Kong to Vancouver would not be released until June. There are some mixed reviews but my associate was extremly happy and consider the price. The "spirit of australia"were $5000 plus.

I have family booked on this (with onward connections to Asia) soon. As mentioned, price was the major motivation :). Will report back on what their experience is. So far, the only comment was "website is very difficult to use and kicked me out of the booking process several times before finally managing to book and pay".

Just a note, it's only a transit in CNS in the northbound direction. The flight is non stop going southbound.

indeed - but it's all about the bed no? As long as food is edible it suits me.

Yes if you can get it and don't lose the lottery and end up with....

The seats on this new twelve-hour flight to Auckland were much less pleasant: rather clunky angled lie-flat seats with particularly droopy shin extenders, in a 2-2-2 configuration.

They have a couple versions of their A30... but these are indicated in the timetable at booking. i haven't read reports of the OOL service being subbed.

I have done this Trip 3 or so times (indeed for as cheap as HK$9k return ex HKG). I have found it extremely good value compared to QF and CX. Flat bed is fine (indeed better than the Skybeds) and food is certainly edible (better than CX at times, not as good as QF though). Champagne served etc. Service on my trips has been excellent. Lounge in HKG is a bit average, but they do have one. No lounge in OOL although they give you $30 worth of vouchers. Stopover in Cairns on the way to HKG is pretty short (maybe an hour or so).

Price can be very variable and can be high around peak periods

Recommended for sure at $1,500-2,000
