Received the following by email this evening:

Take a peek at the perfecttravel companion, your Global Wallet[SUP]®[/SUP] Prepaid Travel card. You canfind it on the flip side of your Velocity membership card.

Simply activate your card and spend by 30 September 2016 to earn bonusVelocity Points*.

Load and spend the equivalent of:
AU$500 to earn 1,000 bonus Points
AU$1,000 to earn 2,500 bonus Points
AU$2,000 to earn 6,000 bonus Points

Not travelling overseas before 30 September? No worries, you can use yourGlobal Wallet[SUP]®[/SUP] here in Australia to claim your bonus Points.

Don’t forget, you will earn 1 Point per $1 spent overseas and 1 Point per $2spent within Australia everytime you spend.

It sounds like an easy 3.5 points per dollar (7000 points all up), for $2000 through the card, over the next 2 months - and no Forex spread unlike the QantasCash offers.

Too good to refuse??

We've been using our Velocity Global Wallet card for years now, the points accumulation is amazing and as long as we apportion business spend where applicable, our accountant is happy. Don't know if this offer would work for existing users of the card, but that's a pity as we just loaded $2k on it.

The card works great, never had a processing issue, but I did get caught out once when the card was either scanned or compromised after a purchase at our local supermarket - someone is Brazil then tried to empty it real quick. Luckily, it had a low balance and we only lost a couple of dollars before we suspended the card. I carry all credit cards now in those security sleeves available from most retailers.

Cheers and happy travels!

Look like target as both my partner and i didnt received similar offer . Great offer for 3.5 point per $

I received a different offer - opt in and spend $100 by 30 September to receive 1000 bonus points. Still probably won't bother opting in - I was put off by the fact (as mentioned in several other threads) that the GW card had no mention of VA on it, and the consequent difficulty of having it recognised by partner airlines - or has that changed now? I already use a 28 Degrees card and a Citibank Plus account anyway for OS transactions, so don't really need another card for that purpose.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Great offer!
Shame I didn't get it either.

This is interesting. We'll be flying Delta and it's codeshare affiliates for the next two weeks and I will be very nervous about approaching the various Lounges for entry as we weave our way across the USA. The Gold FF GW card has Velocity Frequent Flyer and husband's number clearly printed all over the other side - but no mention of VA. I also noticed that my Red FF replacement card that arrived a month or two ago, still has Virgin Blue on it!

So, I think we will grab Husband's original card and carry both with us just in case. The numbers correspond, so I'm confident we'll be granted entry.

If worst comes to worst, we'll do the diplomatic thing and cry till they let us in.

We did a fair bit of Delta in November last year. Two of the lounges (including one in Atlanta) denied us access after showing my Velocity Plat card.
Do not cry, stand your ground. You do have access. I carry a Velocity plat bag tag attached to my carry on. It does say Virgin Australia. This usually makes them check again. They seem to have a screen they can scroll down which actually has a photo of the cards that can get access. I think they get stuck at the Virgin Atlantic screen somtimes and do not scroll down far enough.

I had one lounge droid just tell me that it was not on his screen so we were not going to be let in. Several times.

Keep your cool, and ask to see a supervisor. We simply state "yes it is confusing, but please check your system again, we have had this problem before, we do have access"

Eventually they find the correct screen, and you get let in.

Ahh vmile, you made me v-smile! I will put the waterworks on hold and smile politely, with one foot in the door then. I love a challenge!

Thanks for your advice.

Hi all,

When would ou you think the bonus points be credited?

We used the card in the USA and have received the standard points for what we spent in September, but no bonus points yet.

Probably too early?

Cheers,

Steve

Is there a $1.95 per month fee for the card after 12 months use/activation? Remember something along those lines, when reading the T&C's months ago. I guess if there is no money on the card they can't charge, but something to think about. May be wrong and happy to be corrected?
