Hi all
On the topic of Air NZ credits, have any of you had any luck in using Air NZ credits on Air NZ-codeshared Qantas domestic flights (i.e. within Australia) but without purchasing an onward fare to NZ?
It looks like this is possible with AirPoints, but the one call centre rep I got through to today suggested not with credits. The best I can find on the Air NZ website is "Credits can be used as payment for any flights available for purchase by the general public via the Air New Zealand website, our contact centre or offshore travel centre", which I believe should include an unconnected Qantas domestic flight codeshared with Air NZ.
Thanks for any insights you can provide
I like your thinking but you can't book an NZ coded Qantas domestic flight without a trans-Tasman flight on the ticket. So you wouldn't be able to use an Air NZ credit to book a Qantas domestic flight without flying to New Zealand.
You can use Airpoints to book Qantas domestic flights, but this is a separate thing and the pricing is based on the Airpoints partner airline reward chart.
You can also (theoretically) use Airpoints to book any available award seat on a Star Alliance partner airline. That doesn't mean you can book (for example) a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Lagos on the Air New Zealand website or use an Air NZ credit for this.
