Haha, yes, it is full of Aussie bogans, no arguments there, but I've been once and had a terrific time :)
They have incredible hospitality and I managed to evade most of the bogans somehow.
PS: I think I deserve a lounge no matter my destination choice ;)

Regarding lounges, it depends on the partner airline, such as Qatar gets you into either Air NZ or Qantas lounges if you have Gold Velocity or above (take your pic).

I wouldn’t tar all of Bali with the same brush. Have been dozens of times and whilst yes there are places overrun with Aussie bogans there are some excellent and beautiful places on the island that you can have almost to yourself and less “bogany”

To reduce Balinese culture to “Aussie bogans” is disrespectful. Balinese arts and culture are alive and well, despite the tourist hot spots. There are lots of terrific museums in Ubud, but I encourage people to visit ARMA - a museum established by the remarkable Anak Agung Gde Rai. Many years ago he took me on a tour to a number of lesser-known outdoor cultural sites - some ruins, reclaimed by green mosses and ferns, some used by the local communities today for worship. All have a remarkable relationship to the natural topography. It was a life changing experience. Anak Agung Gde Rai also runs traditional Balinese music, dance and other creative arts classes free to local kids in order to keep these arts alive.

I'm flying out of Melbourne to Bali next weekend with the family (four adults). All in J but with no VA status and no eligible AMEX cards (unless the Platinum Edge Credit Card has become eligible?). Asside from forking out $65 each for the Marhaba Lounge does anybody know of any other options?

Don’t use Marhaba, it’s truly disgusting. Spend the $66 and go to the House Lounge which Virgin used to offer International pax. The F&B has been cut post C19, but it‘s still reasonable. They serve a mean Espresso Martini. And according to the Head Chef they are planning to reintroduce table service a la carte ”soon”.

You can prepay online or pay slightly more at the door - Melbourne Airport - Facilities and Services at Melbourne Airport | Melbourne Airport

Thanks for the tip...I was looking at both. Problem is that the House isn't open on Sundays when we're leaving so not that many options? If there's another lounge that might work I'd love to hear about it...

Can anybody enter the Marhaba lounge? If four adults just rock up can we all get in providing we pay for it?

I haven't been to the moon either, but know what's there.
 
so i made it to silver and have 2 lounge passes linked to my account.
i have no need for them as I get in with my amex charge card.

I'm guessing as linked to my card, no way to gift to a friend flying virgin?
 
Can anyone confirm Sydney premium entry is back open? Executive Traveller is reporting it's back open between 5am to 7am.

Annoying it was NOT open yesterday morning. NO ENTRY barriers across the entry ramp at kerb.

Took FIFTEEN MINUTES in the security line zoo at 6.45am. Welcome to Zimbabwe. There must be 20 zig zag races with annoying signs on them - 15 mins delay from here - then 10 mins - then 5 mins etc. There are PRIORITY signs leaning against the wall - none were working or in use yesterday that is for sure.

Inexcusable to have all that space, and belts and scanners set up there, that still is not operating.
