I always enjoy a few days in Boston, up by Accela and stay at the InterCon which is walking distance from the train station.Kennedy Centre and the trolley tour are a must. You can do this in two full days if you don't dawdle......

I always suggest hiring a car for the day and going to the Hudson Valley.Lots of things such as the Rockefeller estate-Kykuit.Phillipsburg manor,Vanderbilt mansion or FDR's place Hyde Park. And to end the day a spot of shopping at Woodbury Common.

Another interesting day if into architecture is the Phillip Johnson Glass House-can be done with a short train trip to Connecticut.popular so may not be tickets at short notice.

I also have a soft spot for Philly-easily done by train. But spend at least a night.Easy to get around on the Phlash-

Welcome to AFF Aaronw.

I like the suggestion of Niagara Falls. Awesome place and one could easily spend 1-2 nights there.
