I think the transformation of this airline from a 'fly by the seat of your pants' to a now recognised 5* airline according to Skytrax deserves a congratulations.
Some people will still judge on the past however the list of awards below show they deserve a second thought in your choice of airline.

"The World's Most Improved Airline" (2010)
"Airline Turn Around of The Year" dari Centre for Asia Pacific Airlines (CAPA)
The Best International Airline (2012)
The World's Best Regional Airline
The Best Regional Airline in Asia
Farnborough Air Show
The World's Best Economy Class
The World's Best Cabin Crew 2014
Best in Region: Asia and Australasia (2013 & 2014.

That's interesting. Now if I can get Indonesia off my personal banned list, I might have a reason to try them.

I am sure some cash in the right places might help, ie your passport

I don't really care about the best cabin crew or the best food etc. What I care about is Garuda's safety issues.

You cannot change a safety culture overnight. It takes years and must start at the top.

Whilst I hope this is happening it will be quite some time before I consider travelling on Garuda again

I still remember running across the tarmac in Indonesia to get a seat way back in 1988 as there was no guarantee a seat would be available due to no boarding passes being printed. Scare-ruda got me into Bali but my bags didn't arrive until next flight.

I know what you mean - too many bloody Australians, right? :)

Inside DPS airport they sure are a sight to see laying around the boarding area on the floor.

Not been to Bali in years and have no intention of going back on any airline.
