I'm travelling to Dunedin for some work in mid-Feb from MEL via CHC, all on Air NZ, and wanted to make sure I got Velocity status credit for all my flights. However upon checking the NZ domestic connection, it turns out all tickets (From Seat to Flexi Plus) only offer a 'G' fare class, which of course doesn't match Velocity's rules of B, Q, H, M or Y.

It's a shame to miss out on status credits, especially when I'm aiming for platinum over the next 11 months. Is there any way around this? And why the limited classes that can earn Velocity status credits? Are status credits transferable from Air NZ to Velocity?

Status Credits aren't transferable between NZ/VA Programme.

You would need to purchase an more expensive fare between DUD-CHC, not just an Flexi (They are add-on product, on top of the base fare). Probably not work spending the extra to upgrade the fare class, B, Q, H, M, Y; are all pretty much top of the line domestic fares on NZ.

How do I see those fares? It only gives me the option for Seat, Seat+Bag, The Works, and Flexi. I can't see any other fare types.

You would need to call up or book though an travel agent, by default NZ sells you the cheapest fare available at the time.

Check out http://www.airnzagent.co.nz/assets/...estic_quick_reference_rules_guide_24Jun14.pdf this might explain, how Seat, Seat+bag etc word.

e.g. I could be booked on Y fare, and only selected Seat Only so my fare class would be YSAT. Where as I could be on P fare and book Flexi Plus, with my fare becomming PFXP.

Sadly VA system for Status point earning on NZ domestic flights, isn't really design to work with its Domestic Seats to Suit Product.
