I’m not sure Qantas would have treated the situation any differently.

True.

That is why I tend to fly on superior airlines nowadays...

SQ facilitated 'fly ahead' on a SQ J award ticket booked through UA with no issues at all (and I was a UA nothing at the time).

Hi Pleb status. Just wondering how you did this fly ahead with SQ. Was it at the airport or over the phone a few days earlier?

At the airport for a following connecting flight. I just asked and they said yes. I do not believe SQ have an official 'fly ahead' policy however so I think they were just being nice.

Cheers for the info pleb status.

I’m currently booked on SQ 222 in F, 1st sector and specifically looking to change to SQ232 as it gets in before my friend in Singapore. Understand it’s the new product. What do you think my chances are? No saver award space showing online for that flight but three paid seats available.

One other thing, do you know if I can guest a friend into the private room if I’m in Suites?

My 'fly ahead' flight ended up about half full in J so it was not much of a risk for SQ in PER to change my connecting flight through SIN to HKG. If the new flight is pretty full SQ may want to wait until you are in SIN before processing the change (I am guessing however).

I have not yet had a chance to visit TPR so unfortunately cannot help you on that one.

I believe flying F gets you one guest in to the F lounge, but not TPR. That is solely for F pax, but I may be wrong!

Guess F will have to be good enough. Thanks for the info everyone. I’ll report back on how I go with fly ahead. Thinking I might try a trip report as well.
