So quick question... beside from fewer choice of flights, what's the consequence of travelling carry-on only and throwing away the second half of the ticket?

Also do you still get the SCs/miles from the first half of the flight, or are all lost?

Friend of mine wants to know. Regards :)

Tell your friend it's called hidden city ticketing and is fairly common in the US.

You'll get the points/SCs for the actual flights taken.

You might be threatened that you'll be charged for the actual flight you took but I've never heard of this happening to anybody. Just don't make it a regular occurrence.

Oh and when your friend arrives in MEL tell them to let the airline know they can't take the next leg due to a family emergency. It will save them the time looking for your friend and potentially delaying the departing flight to CNS.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
