For quite a few years now I have used FJ J as a cheap way to get to the USA on my yearly business trip. I book it in 3 parts, one way AU-NAD then return NAD-LAX-NAD and then one way NAD-AU. Today I tried to get some pricing and it kept telling me that my booking would be in AUD and AU booking conditions would apply even though I changed my location at the top to Fiji? anyone else found this? Have they stopped us taking advantage of the cheaper pricing when buying in FJD?

Can you switch your browser to incognito and see if that makes a difference?

What are you using as your browser - Chrome, IE etc?

What sort of additional savings have you achieved? The FJ pricing is pretty good in AUD if you choose your days.

If it helps, QF lets you book NAN-LAX return in FJD. Similarly, you can nest AU-NAN (ret) QF# paid in AUD and separate booking NAN-LAX (ret) QF# paid in FJD. I managed to get SYD-LAX (J ret) with NAN stopover for about $4200. There was something slightly dodgy in the actual amount that came through on the CC after conversion but it still seemed very good value.

Another way might be to use your QF points to do a Partner award on FJ as the taxes are quite a bit cheaper compared to QF Classic awards.

Last time I looked, NAN/LAX in J vv was 72K points but the beds on the FJ A330 are sloped but I guess you found it okay if you're doing it again. What dates are you looking at and is it just yourself travelling?

Edit: Just checked and NAN/LAX/NAN in J on a Classic award is still 144,000 return and taxes FJD267.60 (AUD175.86).

That's fairly expensive. Granted the AUD was stronger, but it was possible to do AU-NAN one way economy, and all the rest of the flights in business (NAN-LAX-NAN-AU) for ~AUD3000. The weaker AUD accounts for some, but not all of the difference.

Vermin was offering USA straight out for AUD4600 in business until last week. Which would make the FJ option somewhat unappealing if you didn't want a stopover in Fiji.

Yes, doing SYD-NAN in whY drops the price by ~$1k +/-. I recall seeing fares all in J direct with FJ for under $4k (but no QF 1st Lounge access in SYD, no QF ~ flight sectors and no bonus miles). My comment on "value" is in comparison to the regular transpac J fares. Which granted, do seem to be coming down thanks to more competition. The current FJ sale is $5500 (ret)

I'm booked on QF non-stop SYD-SFO (J ret) in July for ~$4500. Which is exceptional. The current QF sale is $5k (SFO and LAX). Which is still pretty good.

I was using chrome. Haven't tried the incognito trick might try that and report back. The booking engine was definitely China different try

Sorry autocorrect and then I posted accidentally.
Booking engine was definitely acting differently than I remember. Anyway moot point now have booked via qf on AA codeshare instead. Travelling in July.

Booked the 5k sale as mentioned above. I am paying in USD so this makes it very good value with the current weak AUD.

This was noted a few months ago in this thread: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....scussion/fiji-airways-charging-aud-70763.html
