Hi All,

First time I have tried Emirates. BKK - SYD last Sunday.

777 Aircraft in F

Didn't really know what to expect. Really appreciated the limo transfer at both ends (even though travelling on points). Other airlines could learn from this.

Observations.

Lounge in BKK was ordinary to say the least and food choice underwhelming.

Boarding procedure basically a free for all

Nice greeting upon boarding and to be honest was a little amazed by the cabin fit out. It is certainly different to SQ / QF. A little over the top in the glitzy stakes. Anyway very comfortable seat and amenities. Slept well.

Service. Very polite but really not sure if this was some sort of trainee crew. The order for my first drink was forgotten. The next one white wine with the meal was lukewarm. Didn't say anything to start with but when the crew chief presented asked him if he could find a white that was cold. He obliged without a problem immediately. Unfortunately the new wine was colder but only marginally. I don't know what was going on but how can they stuff it up twice!! Gave up had my meal and went to sleep. Food was OK (snapper main course) but nothing to rave about.

Plane landed and disembarkation was delayed due to a sick passenger. A nice little terse conversation between Emirates ground rep and cabin crew about quarantine being needed or not. All in view of the passengers. Not the most professional moment.

Anyway, overall much prefer SQ (please some limo transfers).

Maybe this was one of those flights but really don't understand how they have taken over the world. I certainly would think twice about travelling with them again.

I don't understand all the hype either.

But will continue to use Emirates where it makes sense.

Mrs GPH and I have found (in the past) the EK experience to be a bit "hit & miss". That said, all of our travel black then was in Y ...... Golly it seems like an aeon ago ! Anyway having recently flown EK from AKL to BNE in J it was reasonable. Better than the QF offer in J (jet connect) but on such a short flight not sure I can make a judgement.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

My worst Emirates flight was from Sydney to Bangkok. Crew was poorly trained. Wrong food order. Paperwork not handed out. They disappeared after meal service. But that route seems to have its issues frequently. Other routes have been excellent.

Aircraft on this route changes to A380 (next month I believe). Much better J seat than 777, bar at back of plane and showers in F.

Flying EK next month in F = BNE-SIN-BNE on 777 now wondering if I should have saved points and just slummed in it J. Good problem to have I guess ;)

EK F is still miles better than EK J. Not to mention that you get the shower!

I actually didn't find the EK J seats super comfortable. Quite narrow IMO.

EDIT: was reading other posts while typing. Shower and bar only on A380. Oops.

I wasn't sure if they had the shower on the 777 or only the A380 so that's good to know.
