First credit card , starting first job > $75000 pa

Hi all the guru's.
I am looking for advice to give my daughters SO who ,as the title suggests is looking for his first credit card ,hopefully with bonus points.
I dont know if he has a credit score and of course , won't have any pay advices to use as reference for a few weeks.
He is hoping to have this in time for a trip to Japan in early March.
Any suggestions and advice for a less problematic application process.
He will be working as a medical officer in Queensland.

The ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures card comes with a free return VA domestic flight, no foreign transaction fees and 40,000 bonus Velocity points if you use the link in this thread, for an annual fee of $225.
