Filtration on Airplanes;

From what I've read since the banning of smoking air is circulated/exchanged with the outside at half the rate of the glory days of smoking on board; which saves fuel if things don't need to work as hard. So the airline saves a few pennys, I don't get lung cancer but I do risk other airborne germs as the same air hangs around twice as long.

I'm pretty sure that all of these stories come from the half pack setting that used to exist on the older 747s. Yes, it does reduce the fuel burn very slightly, but very slightly does add up. Nowadays the aircraft air con systems know how many people are on board, and adjust flow rates and heating to match.

Now im no engineer; far from it.
My background is in a different field though we have some similar basics;
However I was forwarded this video by a colleague just thought it would be advisable to share it and see your thoughts.

thanks for doing that I found the Ted Talk interesting ! Only such a small modification directing airflow can make all the difference

Oh... it's about air... I read the title as flirtation on airplanes... :oops:

Air Gas where oxygen is almost 21% the rest is Nitrogen and argon
