Confused.... I'm travelling to CPH with Thai and want the best value for my FF points I'll accrue. I travel regularly to HNL- and would like to use the points I'll earn on this flight toward one way flight either from SYD or from NZ to HNL....so do I join- Air NZ rewards, Air canada, or just Thai- haven't been part of star alliance before...not sure what to do?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Cattle class- Economy.

Ok first thing, if you are travelling on a really cheap sale fares (often in "V" or "W" class) you won't earn any miles at all. Ask your travel agent what fare class the flight was booked in. If it is booked in any of the following: U, Y, Q, M, B, S, H, T, K it will earn mileage. If it is booked in G class it will earn 50% mileage - in Thai Royal Orchid Plus program only. If in V or W class, you are out of luck.

As for which program to join if you want to fly to Hawaii it is best to join a program that lists Hawaii as separate to the rest of North America and charges less miles than North America. Of the programs I am familiar with (Thai, Singapore AIrlines, AIr NZ, BMI & United), BMI and Thai are the two that do this. There may be others, but I am afraid you'll have to do your own research for those! Of these two I'd tend to BMI, as it allows a points plus pay option where you can pay half the miles and a sum of cash, and it also allows one way awards. The advantage of Thai is if your fare is in G class (as per above) and if you have an American Express with Membership Rewards you can use to earn points to transfer/top up your points from flying on Thai at a ratio of 4:3. Hope this helps.

Sure does help! Thankyou so much. Not sure what economy code I got- will get all the details next week! Thanks again
