Hi guys,

here's a few photos from a trip last month. I'm not a FF by any definition, and with most of the flights full i felt a little awkward taking photos, even on my iphone! Hopefully it helps someone with their seat selections!

First up was QF7 to DFW, with seat 5J on a JASA. Originally i had booked the flight for a month later, but was easily able to bring it forward with an additional charge of $100. Flight crew outstanding, food pretty disappointing - i probably made some bad choices combined with a lukewarm main wasn't the best experience. Anyhow, i was in J on a long flight thanks to ATO payments so was very fortunate in the first place.

5J was an excellent seat on a full downstairs J section. stoked to have been able to jag it as a bronze FF. I would have been quite upset if i ended up in the middle seat as a paying customer. i don't remember it being 2-3-2 on the A380.

passed quickly through customs and was connecting through terminal A so enjoyed the facilities in the AAdmirals Club. shower was fantastic after such a long flight. I'm not sure if my arriving J ticket gave me access to the lounge, but i'd booked a first ticket for my connection in case the long haul flight was delayed and i missed the connection so no problems there.

AA flight - as you can see the bulkhead in first actually restricts the legroom quite a bit however i was on a short flight so not an issue.

coming home i managed to get an exit row on the AA flight to LAX which was excellent. the leg room was better than in first!

Arriving into terminal 4 at LAX and connecting to TBIT is a bit of a pain. i'd learned the hard way earlier in the year connecting to QF107 so grabbed some burger king in T4 before catching the shuttle over. I'm not sure if QF12 always departs from the exact opposite end of where the shuttle drops you, it's a good 10 minute stroll to get there. fortunately there's not much by way of shops to tempt you along the route.

QF12 - 80K with an empty middle seat next to me. massive win. the couple in the exit row in front i don't think we're too impressed about me squeezing through the gap to exit my seat but it was the easiest option by far. cheeky little tip - if you're looking for a nap put your hand luggage in the space in front with a pillow on top and it becomes a decent little bed.

All in all, great trip with my first JASA and the points chasing has well and truly been instilled.

random photo of the day is a starbucks drive through in Texas. Perhaps unsuprisingly, the line inside was much shorter!

It is always good to read where JS and his ATO thread has flown our AFF members. Now I haven't posted a picture as my skills in that area add up to that zero figure. Apparently my Iphone and IPad have cameras and a light which I haven't troubled myself with. So much to learn......
Thanks for posting the photos tdogshookem. By the way where did you get your name?

Cheers cove. I'd love to see photos of those SQ suites you've mentioned!

ive read your ato gaming blog and recently switched over to the citi select after the Amex changes.

my username has come from a following of college American football, more specifically the Texas longhorns whose tag line is "hook em horns". Unfortunately we got a dusting today from the traditional rivals up in Oklahoma. If I manage to work out this game with AFF hopefully I can make it to next years game in Dallas!

cheers

Do you get a live feed of the games tdogshookem?
My sons subscribe to US sport feeds.
Tonight I have 2 in SQ Suites coming back from school holidays finishing. My niece will get a surprise when they board.
That would be my Frequent Flyer points working overtime.
I do hope that they get two suites each as that is the pinnacle of my redemptions so far. The layout is 1 2 1 so I have them in the 1s and they may get to eat and watch movies in the 2s and sleep in the 1s.
Sorry there are no photos unless my sister in law takes them tonight.
Love the name....mine is a building!
