Just wondering how it works, other than what is described on the website.

You cant actually pool existing SC right?

Only from the time you activate pooling then everything earned will be pooled after that?

how does it appear on the statement?

I suppose it appears only on statement of the member "receiving" the pool?

Correct - there's no retrospective pooling of SCs. (For existing points, of course, there's nothing to prevent you doing a regular points transfer).

My statement has a single line entry reading "Pooled from Velocity Member 2104******" with the number of points and SCs earned by my wife for the flight in the tally columns. On her account, it has a single line entry "Cairns-Sydney 2990 Points and 60 Status Credits Pooled to Velocity Member 2100******" with zeros in the tally columns.

Can i confirm that bonuses are pooled too. My wife is gold so i assume that her 75% bonus gets pooled as well?

Pre-pooling points can be manually transferred from one member to the other, so you can have access to the total pool of points existing now.

I assume so - presumably the calculation of points earned is done under your wife's 'profile' and then automatically transferred. But admittedly I have not observed that first hand (my wife has no status... and thanks to family pooling never will!)

In the interests of Harmony I pool to mrsdrron.Besides she has more status than me.This way we should maintain her at Gold in the future.Lounge access really is all we want at the present.
This certainly is one of the best features of the program.

Thanks for the explanation

Would you choose "bronze" and gold vs silver and silver? how about the bonus points ? :)

Depends what the travel patterns are. If you have one partner who travels more than the other then you're probably better off getting them to Gold. If you both travel about the same, then you'll maximise points if you're both silver. However, I personally value the benefits of having Lounge access over a small number of bonus points, so I'd probably go a "Red" plus "Gold" as my choice.

The big bonus for Gold is Lounge access. As a silver you must pay for lounge access

In return for demanding my wife give me all her SCs, I offered that if she ever does travel alone I'll buy her a flexi fare and a lounge pass - thus covering priority checkin and the two lounge passes she would have got as silver.

When we travel together with me as gold (once I qualify next week), I think that offers a better value proposition than silver+silver.

Same deal here lol... Though that has raised a question in my mind though, if my partner is travelling alone (which will happen as we are both doing an odd shuffle in and out of Darwin for the next 6 months) I still get her points/credit right? :p

Boy you guys are brave!:shock::D

Am I to assume that you can only pool with one person? The T&C's say that you can only do 2 people over 18 and up to 4 under 18 but once I connected my wife's and it's account I can't see another option to add another person? I suppose one way would be for us both to shar the wife's but im not sure how that works. Can someone answer me this - if we want to get me to gold and her Red (I travel about 12 times as much, and generally she travels with me so I'm not living dangerously - well at least not too much!) do I share with her or does she share with me? The way I see it she should share with me so I add my tally up faster so I can get to gold? Correct or not? Or does it not matter and they both get pooled and one person can take it? I'm not up to date with it as you can tell!

The 2 over 18 includes the person receiving the points in your case, you and your wife. 6 in the pool including the beneficiary.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

So how does one add another person into the mix? Or do I need to be on a "proper" computer and not the 'pad?

I haven't set up a pool myself but you need to log into each members account to set it up. Each member has to nominate to send their points to someone else. Assuming you the beneficiary and another adult is contributing to you, then you'll only be able to add children.

Hope this is half helpful

I couldn't find anything that suggested the beneficiary had to be over 18 in the T&Cs? As best I understood the T&Cs I'd be entitled to pool to Master Six and Little Miss Four if I so desired (which I'd like to do once I requal as Plat and get Mrs Gremlin to Plat).

As an aside, if Master Six reaches Gold and is traveling with his Grandma who has no status, will he and Grandma be entitled to use the Lounge as a Gold plus Guest? Or is he not entitled to Lounge Membership because of his age regardless of status? (Normally he'd be traveling with me and/or Mrs Gremlin so Lounge access would be via us but this is a potential scenario for later in the year)

you're right, my mistake.
