I was fortunate enough to be status matched, and also to have some VA flights booked this weekend. (although I suspect it will be an interesting conversation trying to access the lounge without the shiny gold plastic card!)

VA Gold members have the "Fly Ahead" privilege - anyone with EY Gold have this privilege extended?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Its not part of the benefits an EY guest gets, who knows how its handled in the lounge though.

I was treated pretty poorly by VA when flying economy last month...

At checkin, I offered to show my EY gold card (got it August 2013), but checkin staff didn't want to see it and that was my mistake...there were no favours forthcoming whatsoever..

I was bumped from the exit row aisle seat I was promised when I rang to confirm two days earlier and was given a window seat near the back of the plane. When I queried, I was told all aisle seats were taken.

Luckily this was resolved when I got into the lounge...seating was kindly changed to an aisle up front (unfortunately, not that far up front).

Six weeks later I'm still waiting on the points to post to my account (and I know they recorded my status cos it was on my printed itinerary plus I provided written feedback of my experience the next day)

My tip is to gently remind them of your status, even if you quoted it when you booked..

Interestingly without mentioning by status (although I coincidentally made VA silver last week) the counter staff changed my flight to an earlier one gladly and without ceremony. I was also offered an exit row seat (window or aisle was my call).

Will happily be utilising VA for upcoming domestic travels. ;)
