Just recently made WP for the first time and of course it is largely due to knowledge gained from AFF so a big thanks to the forum!

This week managed to get to ADL a couple hours early for my 6:50pm flight home and tried to be moved to an earlier flight but wasn't expecting too much as it was a cheap fare. At the Business check-in counter they said no can do, and then at the same time I rec'd a txt from QF advising that my flight was delayed by an hour. I cheekily tried again due to the delay and she went to ask a supervisor who said no.

Went to the lounge and settled in for a long wait (and a few Coopers!) when I was paged to reception and asked if I would like to move to the next flight. Yes please! I had checked a golf travel bag so they called downstairs and had it retagged to the next flight.

I was impressed, and then onboard as the F&B came around ( I was seated down the back) and I was surprised (as was the w@nker I was seated near) to be greeted by name and asked if I needed anything. The FA came back later and asked by name if I wanted another water!

So I got home 3 hrs earlier than otherwise and had some great onboard service! Wow.:) ........... and PB worked also!

cheers,

Congratulations on achieving WP and long may it last. Great to see the benefits started immediately.

Do remember though that it is achievement to attain WP but a serious commitment to retain it. :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

One day I hope they will extend this to Platinum One's. :p

You experienced a miracle! :p

Sorry for my cynicism, I'm pleased it worked out for you, long may it continue!

Thanks ........... that commitment is the scary part! Although I am hoping it may be easier with a possible os in J this year.

cheers,

That is a great experience for you.

Congratulations on Platinum.

Good to see but from experience that is out of character for Qantas. Many a time I have heard in the lounge a page for passengers "without checked bags" and wanting to move to earlier flight(s) to go to counter.

Virgin has been able to do this successfully so hopefully Qantas will adopt the same practice.

Yes - I expected to be out of luck when I mentioned the checked bag.

I guess that they may have already seen that I had checked bags before they paged me?

It's great that you had a good experience. However in my experience since making WP 2 years ago I am yet to have a personal greeting, op-up or offer of J drinks when in Y. Then again to be honest none of that really bothers me (although an op-up or two would be nice - wishful thinking me thinks), I'm just enjoying the other perks that come along with WP status while I have it.

Interesting you mention the greeting by name. Had the same this week in Y, "Mr XYZ would you like breakfast?" Not from the CSM but during normal service. No one around me seemed to get the same.

That part is not good service. In all of the times I have received the text or call advising of a delay, I have rung the Premium Desk and they have moved me up to 1 hour earlier. I have assumed that this was a standard practice. Shame that the check in counters didn't offer you the same.

As Murphy's law would have it, on two of those occasions MEL-SYD on a Friday evening, my earlier flight has left at the same time or later than the original!
