I received this same email back in December telling me my Privilege Elite membership (through Virgin) has been extended till 28th Feb. I've just logged into my account and seen my new expiry date is 13/08/2016 even though I didn't have enough qualifying days or rentals to requalify.
In regard to the new changes they mentioned in the email, the only one I seem to see is that privilege elite members now receive 20% off domestic rentals as oppose to the 30% we were receiving before the change.

- free additional driver cover
- Get up to 10% discount during the week and at weekends at Accor hotels
You qualify for these benefits automatically with 25 (or 85 days’) rentals a year and as long as your yearly activity remains within these levels or above, your benefits are renewed at the beginning of every calendar year.
