Thought I would start a thread for those following the European championships in France.

Results so far.

Group A
France 2 - Romania 1
Switzerland 1 - Albania 1

Group B
Wales 2 - Slovakia 1
England 1 - Russia 1

France was impressive and Payets goal was something special to win the game.

Happy for Wales to get a win and put pressure on England to perform which they did in patches but couldn't put the game away which seems to be their problem in big tournaments.

Some pretty poor form by the England fans trashing the streets of Marseille.

Surprising poor finishing by England where most people can hit a French copper with a plastic chair from 30 yards out.

Many European teams and a few south americans would have been falling all over the place, rolling around in agony at the merest touch to run the game out, at least England didn't resort to that nonsense...

But yes should have been able to hold on...

Last nights / this mornings games:

Croatian Defender Vedran Corluka would disagree with you.

This mornings scores.

Group D
Spain 1 - Czech Republic
Gerard Pique 87'

Group E
Ireland 1 - Sweden 1
Wesley Hoolahan 48'
Ciaran Clark (og) 71'

Belgium 0 - Italy 2
Emanuele Giaccherini 32'
Graziano Pelle '90

Italy were very impressive and organised this morning nullifying Belgiums attack completly. Thought they did really well to get the win and are a threat to progress pretty far in the tournament.

I think the gut-reaction of blaming all the issues on English fans is a tad unfair to be honest.
The Russians certainly seem to be fairly aggressive.
Not surprising if this is their officialdom : Euro 2016: Russian hooligan fans praised by MP after clashes with England supporters - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Good luck to all those international fans hoping to go to the World Cup in a couple years.

One should remember pretty much all Russian men complete a year of Military service, so most have fighting skills, then you couple that with their ultra nationalist views that trickles down from their President and it's pretty easy to see why Russians are currently one of the most despised tourists you can find now.

Having said that, English Fans can also be a bunch of smart coughs as well.

Group F
Austria 0 - Hungary 2
Adam Szalai 63'
Zoltan Stieber 87'

Portugal 1 - Iceland 1
Nani 31'
Bikir Bjarnason

Massive upset by Iceland to get the point against Portugal.

Russia being punished for crowd behavior during the game. Fans must be on their best behavior for the rest of the tournament or face being disqualified. 150K euro fine and suspended disqualification.

French police blamed 150 "well-trained" Russian hooligans for clashes before Saturday's 1-1 draw against England.

Always blame the English fans, news reports also say groups of French fans were involved. What I don't understand how did security allow the Russian supporters in with knuckle dusters?

also reported fights at another game which doesn't appear to be picked up by the news services

Rubber bullet all of the scum, irrespective of where from, then round them up and back to the cells for a bit of working over with batons...

They'd think twice about it next time...

So with the group stages coming to a close here are how things stand in each group and the best 3rd placed teams:

Croatia beating Spain this morning put Spain on the same side of the draw as Germany, France & England. Will be interesting to see how the rest of the draw fills up following the final games from Group E and F.
