Etihad boosts Gold Elite benefits, Virgin Australia Platinums also win - Confirmation

Hi,
Im a VA plat and flying Etihad Sin - Dub in Y. Saw this article yesterday and it seems to indicate that VA plats will have the same benefits while traveling as Etihad Gold Elites, such as F lounge access in AUH. Can you confirm this please. Also as a VA plat does my added baggage for my Etihad flight mean that I have 50kg for one bag? ie 30kg (standard) + 20Kg (Plat bonus)

This is an area where Virgin needs to catch up.. I really like VA for domestic travel, but the international options leaves me a little underwhelmed.
This is a great move in the right direction..

I seem to remember that both of our responses was "YES! FLOUNGE!!" for that short period where FLounge bennies were inadvertently available .. good to see it make a triumphant return!

Certainly was the best transfer i've had in AUH when i was mistakenly offered it shorlty after VA plat was introduced.

It may also have the practical effect of reducing the crowding in the J lounge.

The team are working towards the delivery of these benefits with Etihad however they have not been finalised at this stage.
We will notify members when we are in a position to deliver enhanced Platinum benefits when traveling with Etihad Airways.

What you will get - Pearl Business Class lounge access at AUH until otherwise notified.
As well as +20kg Platinum baggage allowance (as per current arrangement)

I hope you are able to workout arrangement for new 'upgraded' benefits.

The lack of streamlined benefits accross your partners is one major disadvanatge of being with VA - at least with Qantas you get defined Oneworld benefits everywhere.

In fairness thats only when you are travelling on a OneWorld operated and marketed flight, and Qantas have a lot of flights where thats not the case.

Erm.. isn't that already the case? It's what the Velocity website currently advertises and has certainly been my experience flying EY .. do you mean access to the Diamond First lounge?

We've just heard that effective immediately, Velocity Platinum members +1 guest can access Etihad Airways’ Diamond First Class lounges when traveling on any flight operated by VA or EY in any class of service.
