Well this is an unusual new route for Emirates. Dubai to Auckland via Denpasar with a Boeing 777-300ER. Daily flights begin on 14 June 2018.

I bet there will be plenty of J & F award availability between DPS and AKL!

Here's what the linked article says about the planned schedule:

The new Emirates flights have been scheduled as a lunchtime departure from Auckland, with EK451 arriving in Bali just before 1800 local time. After about two hours on the ground, the 777-300ER continues onto Dubai, arriving just after midnight.

Meanwhile, the reciprocal EK450 departs Dubai just before 0700, touching down at Bali at 2020. The Bali-Auckland portion of the journey is an overnight flight that lands in New Zealand’s largest city at 1000 the next day.

I guess they are trying, but I don't think reality will be plane loads wanting to travel direct. Some of course but not enough.

Guess our next Bali holiday will include a stop in NZ. Who'd a thunk?!

Are there enough bogons in Auckland to sustain that service?
And if so surely Jet* would've started a service?

For years NZ folk were flying with an extra stop in AU. At least Bali makes an attractive stopover, and if not, might as well stop there instead of SYD/MEL/BNE. Also for traffic originating in Europe Bali would make good sense stopover wise.

I wonder if QF will ever offer it as a codeshare?

I'm not convinced the route will be successful. But if EK stay, I wouldn't be surprised if NZ pull out of AKL-DPS very soon.

Seems like a good option to get to Europe with a beach holiday too!

I wonder if transiting passengers will be allowed to leave the plane in DPS?

When I flew BNE-DPS-KUL last year with Malindo Air, I was not allowed to get off the plane in Bali.

I beleive JQ116 passengers PER/DPS/SIN deplane (the guy sitting next to us was upset that he thought he had to, unsure if he did or not in the end).
