I'm trying to book 3 x Y tickets to Europe (MXP) in December... return flights at over $2,500 until Dec 09 climbing to $3,000+ after Dec 10...

Don't seem to find any special / family offers so I was wondering if I should book now (in case they go up even further) or wait a few weeks hoping they will release some December specials

First time I fly Emirates so I have no idea of promos / sales patterns!

Many thanks

It's a pity you're not in Melbourne. I have a discount code for 10% off for flights ex Melbourne. It's a standard code available to VRC members.

I have just put a deposit down on a QF/BA trip to Edinburgh via Hong Kong. Close to $3.5K due to specific flights being requested to match award booking. Theoretically if Qantas happen to have a Christmas sale later I could cancel the booking with Q Hols and pay the penalty - with the credit being used to purchase the cheaper fare.

In reality they have my gonads in a peak-season vice and I have kissed the money goodbye already.

So if you can buy the fare with some flexibility I would take it. If they have a super-duper sale later you can afford to change, otherwise stick with the bird in the hand.

Thanks anyway - yes I read about the VRC code, shame there's nothing out of SYD...

Etihad is another option, but probably around the same cost...

I would love to know what the VRC code is, can anybody tell me. As to any special coming out??, well I would love to know that to.

I think it's really a gamble you'll have to take. I know that over the past few years traditionally QF will have a sale for example, that will normally cover for travel up to December 10/11, however it may be your leg home that is pushing the price up so even with a sale you may not get too much better.

As usual, YMMV and you should pay the price you're willing to pay (e.g. if you pay now and a sale does later come, that drops the price, then tough luck! ;)).
