Emirates dropping F on some A380 routes

EK have been hinting at a 2 class configuration for a while now. Especially for routes like MNL.

Yes remember all those luxurious photos of the A380 - we all knew soon enough it'd become a bus.

A telling sign that massive capacity dumping doesn't necessarily translate to premium yields (particularly when your soft product is sub par)

this has been on the cards for a long time, why should EK offer F to every port?

I thought the OP's concern was more about J being behind Y (and by implication last to disembark although not stated) than the loss of F.... I think everyone is now accepting that F is just a vanity exercise on most routes.

'i suppose but the thread title indicated loss of F as the main subject

It does allow for minimal change...

As for disembarkation, that would require crew intervention.

Actually announced (or rather entered into GDS) in April that they would be flying two class A380 to CPH from January next year. I guess what is new is that the configuration has been revealed.

The business seats on the A380 are better than on the B777 which used to fly DXB<->CPH and I do llike the bar, but I don't like the idea of being down the back of the aircraft.
Also I thought having an entire premium deck was a great aspect of the EK layout.
Although if I recall correctly there are two aerobridges for the upper deck so J should still be able to board separately.

This was announced some time ago and does not surprise me. Other airlines like SQ and LH also reducing F.

Yeah, I totally accept and agree that a 2 class (or basically no F) A380 for many markets is probably a smart move.

Having J at the back (which appears to be to save moving a bar) is an interesting decision.

Is it to save confusion when J pax board either one of the two aircraft, ie through the same door / a similar experience? I guess thinking about it now, the J pax are at the back (of the upper deck) already..
