As posted on flyertalk:

Emirates Skywards is becoming a full partner. And earning is solely based on miles, not spend:

Earn Miles
Code:
Class of service flown | Eligible booking Classes | % of Actual Mileage earned
Premium Economy | W,O | 125%
Full Economy | Y,N | 100%
Discounted Economy | U,T,S,Q,P,M,K,J,H,G,E,C,B,A | 50%
Heavily Discounted Economy | X,V,R | 25%
Applies to Virgin Blue Domestic Flights within Australia

Redemption rates are similar to QFF.

good news for DJ....Glad to see them allowing other airlines to earn on their flights (ie Virgin Atlantic, Malaysian and now Emirates).

I think Emirates is the first you can burn with as well (ie VS, MH are earning only.)

Hopefully we will see another American partner join the program soon and perhaps one of their interline partners like Thai or Etihad.

What a wonderful development.

Though many were hanging out for Virgin Blue to become part of *A, this is perhaps the next best result

Great to see Kingfisher and South African are part of the partner airlines too.

Has anyone experience in trying to redeem flights on Skywards Partner Airlines?

Hi ANstar,

I think this is a slightly different development than the one you refer.

My understanding is that on Velocity, you could always burn on MH VS EK etc.

This new development means that the new Emirates Skywards program may be a superior program than the Velocity one - thus making an aussie based traveller load points onto QFF and now Skywards; instead of using Velocity (or *A) as a second program.

I could be mistaken though............

Maybe I didnt explain myself so well heheh - I know you could always earn and burn on Velocity.

My point is that they have now agreed to have another airlines FF program (Skywards) allow you to burn on DJ. Currently MH, & VS's programs only allow you to earn on Virgin Blue, not redeem.

Presumably this has been to stop Aussie members using another FF program other than Velocity for their DJ FF program.

Exactly my point. But it is still good news for DJ as it may mean more bums on seats. This should still be revenue positive for them.
