Emirates A380 plans revealed: LHR, JFK, SYD-AKL!

A nice surprise to see the Emirates A380 routes announced, as reported in today's SMH.

Hopefully we can get a few people together in SYD around that time.

Who wants to come on that trip, as an EK miles redemption?

Emirates is set to cause a major stir on the trans-Tasman route, after confirming plans to deploy the world's largest passenger jet on its Sydney to Auckland services from February next year...

Air New Zealand declined to comment. But in the past Air New Zealand and Qantas have accused Emirates of "price dumping" since it commenced trans-Tasman flights five years ago. The extra seats bought on by the A380 are likely to place pressure on airfares. It will mean the number of seats on the route will grow around 45,000 a year.

Great news for travellers on the Syd-Akl route...this should force fares down a fair bit on QF and NZ!! I wouldn't mind trying out their J cabin between Syd and AKl....I bet it will be spectacular, not to mention the F cabin:mrgreen:
