My Wife and myself will be Emigrating to Perth in September so I thought I would join up to get some info about various flights/airlines.

I'm from Dundee on the East coast and my wife is originally from the countryside in NW N. Ireland.

Aus isn't too hot, have been many places hotter, so it should be fine :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Best of luck with it, live in WA for a year myself and found it interesting.

What brings you to Perth, it is a long ways from nearly everywhere. :D

my wife was over for her elective between 4 & 5th of medical school in 2005, I was over for some of that and liked the area, its going to have changed a lot since then I know but have quite a few friends living over there now and they seem to like it, secondary the wages are good for a GP and Engineer and the way the NHS in the UK is going there is going to be a lot more heading over soon !!!

Welcome to AFF, we have a lot in common :)
Make sure your getting points for your flights over here!
I think half of Perth is British every time I visit there ;) ( three trips booked in already for this year)

Welcome to AFF FromTheRail!

Has Sunday trading been implemented yet in WA?

So it looks like we will be using Emirates from either Glasgow or Dublin (depending who's parents we are going to) every time, it is better to use the Emirates or Qantas rewards program?

Can Amex MR be used with either of these programs as could be handy to stick the emigrating costs onto an Amex and use the MR points later.

If you are flying QF domestically ( lots) then the QFF would be my pick.

Mrs GPH and I will be there in April.

Cannot transfer Amex MR to Skywards and you need Ascent Premium to transfer to Qantas.

we are happy to accept trained people. there is plenty of work around in various areas and the outback always will accept doctors. I hear the UK all round is in pretty crook shape?

are you selling everything up? years ago people used to do very well against the FX, these days its alot leaner.

you will also need a $1m to get a reasonable place in perth
