EK Email Paid Upgrade and baggage allowance

While I have had countless emails in the past from Emirates asking if I wanted to pay for an upgrade, the amount or other reasons have not had me take one up ..... until today.

So got the email two days ago, saw light loads and was I will upgrade.

However with EK dropping lounge access and a whole lot of benefits for anyone who uses this a few days before email to pay for an upgrade option, the booking also didn't display any increase in baggage allowance - so figured it was also something that you don't get.

On check in was informed that you are entitled to your extra luggage allowance doing the paid upgrade, and currently doesn't show on the booking online you are.

I did search and couldn't find anything, was too busy or wooss to call to check first, so having done so and been told you are entitled, here to post so.

Neither "upgrade online or at check-in" is applicable to and upgrade via an exclusive "Emirates Airline Email Upgrade Offer".

If you upgrade online or at Check-in, you are effectively paying to change your booking, including the change fee - which a Y-J upgrade online can cost thousands and rightfully so you should get all the perks that come with J class for doing so.

What is discussed is the exclusive "Emirates Airline Email Upgrade Offer", emailed 2-3 days prior to departure offer to upgrade for a substantially reduced amount - which offers end once the quota of people they hoped to take up the offer is reached or 24 hours prior to departure. These offers are at a substantially reduced amount and have a lot of benefits like Lounge Access removed for those who take them up and still need status to use the lounge for example.

For those not in the know or have experienced - we are talking about an email offer that looks like the following. They have used this picture exclusively for these email offers.

This is the fine print on the bottom of them:

Important Information

This upgrade offer is exclusive to you and the passengers in your booking. It can only be purchased via the link in this email and is not available at the airport, via Emirates call centres or contact centres. Purchasing the upgrade for specific passengers within a booking is not permitted. All passengers in a booking must purchase the upgrade. This upgrade offer is non-refundable, non-transferable and is only applicable on the flight number and date mentioned above. If you have a connecting Emirates flight, it will remain in the class of travel originally booked. Flights upgraded using this offer are not eligible for Lounge or Chauffeur-drive service. Emirates Skywards members will retain access to lounges based on their tier eligibility. Skywards Miles will accrue at the original ticketed rate. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for further details.

Oh, I thought this was equivalent to online upgrade. Thanks for clarifying! :)
