Eligible Sector - VA Flight booked through Hawaiian

Hi all. I am 1 eligible sector away to maintain my gold status. I had MEL-SYD VA flight (with VA flight number) booked and I thought it would be counted as an eligible sector. It was booked through Hawaiian Airlines as it was a connecting flight for MEL-SYD-HNL. I just got off a phone with a Velocity call centre agent and she said the VA flight was not counted as eligible sector as it was booked through Hawaiian, not Virgin. Can anyone please share an insight if this is true?

If booked by HA it most probably has a HA flight number so would be ineligible to count.

If your e-ticket shows a VA flight number for the VA sector, it should count.

On many of my EY e-tickets, if I have a VA flight number for a VA sector, it does indeed count as an eligible sector for Velocity.

Reverse is incorrect if it is a EY flight number for a VA sector.

Yes that's what I thought too and it has a VA flight number for VA sector. However, I had a look at similar threads in the past, and it does say the marketing is through partner airlines, it doesn't count. I might try to call again and see what happens. Thank you so much for your time to reply :)

I think your overcomplicating it.
VA flight number - you'd get points.
HA flight number - you won't get points.

If it's a VA flight number and it has been booked by HA, then HA is simply the agent in the process, just like if you booked through flight centre or Amex.

To be really, really clear. Are you saying that YOUR TICKET shows a VA flight number...OR, that the flight in general had a VA flight number (obvs as it was VA operated) in addition to codeshare flight number? A few times I've seen people think that because the flight is also sold as a VA flight number, they think their codeshare flight should be eligible, when it isn't.

You'd get points in either case...the question was about eligible sectors.

Unless things have changed recently when I’ve looked at booking with HA previously the domestic connections in Australia have always appeared as HA flight numbers.
I’d love to know what was on your ticket and if it’s a VA number you should get eligible sector
