Would any one know if the counter for this flight would open any more then 3 hours prior to departure. I will be flying in from regional Qld and I am trying to work out what time to fly down and what I can actually do to fill in time prior to check-in. Thanks in advance CM

No it doesn't open any earlier than 3 hours before - but have heard of you are there for check in for EK435 they will check you in then.

Are you booking the connecting flight on the same PNR if so then luggage should be through checked and your boarding pass issued. Therefore you can go straight through customs and be relaxing at a bar awaiting the EK lounge to open.

Many thanks Ansett : Geez i just love the combined wisdom on this forum! So I haven't actually booked the domestic leg yet. Can I ring Qantas to have the bookings linked and get the outcome as described by you above?

Cheers CM

You can try to call them to get domestic leg added, but there will be change fees - and in most cases a lot more expensive than to just book your domestic on a separate PNR - just not the protection all in a single booking e.g. single PNR.

If you are booked on QF codeshare on EK433 and doing a QF domestic flight to meet it - you should have luck asking the check in person for your domestic flight to check your bag through to EK433 flight you have.

Personally if you are flying to BNE to get EK433 - not sure why you just wouldn't aim to fly to MEL and get EK405 - fly on the A380 instead of B777 - and have better flight times as well.

Do EK close the lounge after 435 has left and then re-open for the later flight ?

EK have the BNE Lounge open from 6pm for EK435 that departs at 9pm for DXB.

Then there is a minder in the Lounge from 9pm until it opens again at 11:30pm for PAX who are transferring from (AKL) EK435 to EK433 (SIN)

It is then open from 11:30pm-2:30am for EK433 to SIN

From 2:30am until 5:10am there is a minder in the lounge again for PAX off EK432 transferring to EK434

It is then open 5:10-8:10am for EK434 to AKL

Then is shut with no one there from 8:10am until opening at 6pm.

Get to the lounge during EK435 or EK433 opening times, and can remain in it all night - if that floats your boat.

Even if you are on separate QF and EK tickets QF can still through check your bags onto EK and issue both boarding passes.

Hopefully the country bumpkins out west who do the checkin are aware of this and don't confuse your scenario with the OW policy change on 01 Sep which is a whole different animal.

There's no point calling res aa they can't link QF and EK pnrs, plus EK flight info segements in an Amadeus res pnr do not generate to the Altea checkin system do your EK on carriage won't be visible.

Given OP say they are QF SG - I assume they have booked on QF code of QF8433 which is EK metal of EK433 - and hence will get all the benefits of QF SG.

If OP is booked as EK433, and not booked on QF code, then they will gain no benefits as QF SG - like the EK lounge wouldn't be an option for them.

My post was purely about being able to through check from QF to EK on separate pnrs irrespective of whether OP is booked on a QF codeshare or EK code BNE/SIN thereby eliminating the need to checkin locally at BNE Intl.

The ff tier status of the OP has no bearing on this.

I wasn't referring to lounge access at all.

Flying J classic award over/ classic F back and have access to Chauffeur drive even though I will only take advantage of that in SIN

So why not EK404/405 ex MEL on A380? Wasn't an option for reward seats or didn't come up on your radar as an option?

Hear B777 F is just as good, just no shower - but torture of staying awake to board at 2:30am mixed with angle flats on 777 in J that I slide down on for just shy of 8 hour flight to SIN.

Personally I fly up on QF51 and back on EK432 by default - but will fly down to MEL to use EK404 before I fly EK433.

Yes I never considered flying ex-MEL. Originally I had me going BNE-HKG-BKK-SIN-BNE at a decent hour then a mate moved to SIN for work so I cancelled and rebooked BNE-SIN-BKK-SIN-BNE to go visit for a few day. So besides inexperience, probably left it too late to get a decent chop at it. Did have the option of flying F over but thought it might be wasted at that time of night. Learning all the time!

Are you sure? I am booked on EK433 in 4 days time and cannot see that I am not entitled to Emirates lounge access. This was booked as a Qantas award flight and QF* not offered.

I assume the same for Gold.

And also if one turns up to airport before EK435 departs then one should be able to check-in for EK433 but that leaves long time in lounge.

I am fairly sure that if you have booked it as a QF award you will be entitled to status benefits regardless of the flight number.
Actually I just checked and you enjoy them even on a paid fare.

Yes - you will have lounge access. (100% sure)

Yes - you should be allowed to check in during EK435 and go to the lounge and stay in it until EK433 departs. (from what many have told me)
