Hi,

I am flying SYD to LHR with EY next week in business. Now which program am I better to credit the flights to?

I am a Velocity Silver (Status Match) member, but haven't flown them domestic as I prefer QF, as I have credit card and usually fly QF. So I could credit VA or join EY FF or join Air New Zealand as it looks like I can credit EY flights to them as well.

At present I have no future plans to fly with either VA, EY or NZ, but may have to go to the middle east later in the year for a work.

So any advice would be greatly appreciated, so I can maximise the benefits, of this trip.

Thanks

I would credit to VA. It will probably get you to Platinum, or at least Gold. And leave you with enough points for plenty of very cheap Points + Pay domestic redemptions.

Should be worth 160+120+120+160. Will get you to Gold, not platinum with VA.

Yes I have no VA points, that is why I am asking the question as to which one it is best to credit to, as all are zero, except QF. It was going to be a QF/BA flight, but as it was less then 7 days to fly the fares had gone up 50% so it was more the price difference was more then work were willing to pay, and more then I would even ask them to pay.

Looks like VA will get them, unless some one has a better suggestion.

Myself and another member were having this discussion yesterday... Don't you need 2 sectors on VA metal for PS, 4 for SG and 8 for WP? That was the impression i was under.

Having said that - if you've already got PS, why not credit to VA? Your not going to lose anything anywhere else and you've got everything to gain...

I thought SC earn was based on origin to destination not origin-transit-destination? This might change a decision I was making about an upcoming flight t the UK - on your calc it would be 560 SCs and i was expecting 400...

My understanding is for domestic flights, SCs are based on O-D, whereas international it's O-T-D

Edit- from VA site:
"* When you purchase a single domestic or*international short haul*fare with Virgin Australia*and there is a via point which does not involve a stopover, the Status Credits are awarded on the mileage from origin to destination, e.g. ABX-BNE via SYD will receive the Status Credits for the distance and fare type flown based on ABX-BNE."

Sector counting only applies from august, so it should be fine if flown before then

One more question.

Just logged on to my QFF account and the EI bookings are showing there, with my VA number. Is this normal? As they won't load on my VAFF account, but appear automatically on my QFF one.
