Your question cannot be answered with a yes or no. What you need is the booking class then refer to the earn table on qantas.com

If the class in question earns points it will also earn status credits.

Thank you. I am on a basic economy - it seems I will get 25 sc for the leg which is great as I will maintain my Silver status this year.

But not all economy booking classes earn SCs - you need the exact class to determine if it earns.

Like BorisSpatzky said, it all depends on your AA booking class.

I got burned once receiving no SC as the ticket was in the wrong (? O) class IIRC.
