Hey guys,

I'm trying to book some accomodation in the US for July August. I'll be travelling to several cities, often staying only 1 night in each location. I'm a HIlton Honors member so usually stay and book thru the Hilton website, but since I've recently started accruing to QF, I thought I'd see how I can go about geting some QF miles for my stays.

So, I got onto the QF website and started searching for hilton properties (which are a QF partner). Problem is the prices are, in some cases, 3 times more expensive than if booked directly thru Hilton.

According to the QF website, points can be earned, on 'eligable rates' if the stay is booked thru a Travel Agent or 3rd party website¨(like Hilton.Com). But it doesn't stipulate what an eligable rate is. I'm presuming its not the full rack rate as thats like only earning miles on a full Y class airfare.

Does anybody know, or can anybody point me in the right direction?

Cheers,

Per the Frequent Flyer T&C’s:

9.6.3 Points are awarded for hotel stays purchased at rates deemed eligible by the hotel. Unless otherwise specified by the hotel, Points will not be earned for stays of the following types:
(a) stays purchased as part of package holidays;
(b) free hotel stays;
(c) stays at industry discount rates;
(d) stays at group rates or other special promotional rates; or
(e) stays using Award vouchers or discount certificates.

So I’m guessing you’d need to consult the T&C’s of each hotel to see what they say about point earning to QFF.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

No need to book through the QF website - you should be able to continue to book through Hilton using your Hilton HHonors account to accrue QF miles for your stays. You simply need to go into you Hilton HHonors account, go to "My Profile" then "Earning Points and Miles" click "Double Dip Earnings Style Options" and select (if most of your stays are one night), "Hhhonors Points and Fixed Miles" and "Add Partner" to add Qantas as a partner and enter your Qantas Frequent Flyer number. This way you will get 1,000 QF miles per stay, just like booking through the QF website.

I've never had a problem with Hilton rates crediting, even booked with 25% off (& other) promos, weekend discount rates, discounted advance purchase rates, AAA member discounts etc. Only ones not credited were Hilton Hhonors award stays, obviously! Airline employee rates and sometimes conference rates may not be eligible. Also package holidays, or stays booked through third party websites such as wotif.com, priceline.com etc are usually not eligible.
