Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone knew the earn rate for a United frequent flyer flying on a Singapore flight?

We have been doing a lot of research and came down to a toss of a coin for either Qatar Airways (and earn 25% QF points) or Singapore Airlines of which i am a United member.

Boyfriend can either join United (same as me and we can combine points then) or join KrisFlyer.

It would be great if someone could answer the earn rate question and/or offer opinion on the points chasing.

Thanks!

Depends on the fare..... be careful...some SQ fares earn ZERO on other FF programs...

Yeah that is the case with any cross airline earn.

I have got burnt before which is why I am asking.

You need to know the fare class. If looking at SQ website for booking, there's a link at the bottom that says "Full fare rules and conditions" - click on that and it will advise booking class "Class of Travel:Economy(letter)", where letter = booking class.

Other simple way of working out if the fare earns nothing - if the fare earns either 10% or 50% in Krisflyer (Sale or Economy Saver fare) it will earn nothing in United's program. If it earns 100% in Krisflyer (Economy Flexi Saver or Economy Flexi) it will earn either 50% (H,W,L class) or 70% (E,M class) for Flexi Saver or 100% (S,T,P, Y,B) for Flexi or Premium Economy Fares.

Thanks for that's exactly what i needed to know. Will check the fare class (one direction is def not discoint econ!)
