We have been issued paper tickets for our award RTW trip in June. When I booked in August, it was E-tickets. But a qantas change of flight times (perth-hongkong) has meant we are now being re-routed through sydney to make our original connecting flight to paris. The qantas person said due to all the taxes involved they now have to issue a paper ticket instead of E-tickets.
Can anyone please tell me if they is anything special i need to be aware of now that we have paper tickets.

Only to remember to take the ticket with you and hand it over at check in time

As Dave said, just dont lose it.

Frankly, I'm amazed they cant re-issue as an e-ticket.

Weird.:-|

From memory any new taxes after a ticket has been issued, it has to be paper issued to show the tax breakdown.

Trying calling QF up and ask them to resend send a copy of your e-tickets to your email address and see what comes through. :)

Hang on to the ticket as a momento. In a few years time they will only be available in the museums!

How many segments in the ticket after the change?

If it was already 16 segments and now PER-HKG is changed to PER-SYD-HKG, perhaps the e-tix system could not cope with the 17 segments now required for the routing?

Yeah, keep it dry. Keep it safe, and remember to carry it with you!

The paper voucher for that segment will normally be attached to your Boarding Pass, and removed at the gate. Make sure you don't lose your boarding pass either!

Paper tickets are pretty rare these days, so you might get someone checking you in who takes longer or has to seek assistance.

adding the perth-sydney took it to 16 segments.
they did say at first after the segment added it will stay as an E-ticket but rang a few days later to advise can't do it, has to be paper ticket, something to do with taxes.
oh well, we'll just make sure we take care of it like we would our passports etc. thanks for the all the advice.

note that some things that may not look like a segment may be such when it comes to the reservation systems. Such as arriving at LGW and departing LHR (or any other "colocated" airports like JFK/LGA/EWR etc) or a surface segment.
