I am a Royal Orchid Plus member with a minimal balance. Had an email from Thai Airways yesterday with a promotion on flights with points. Return Brisbane (and elsewhere in Australia) to Bangkok is 49,000 points Royal Silk Class and 27,500 economy which seems like a great deal. Promotion is for travel up till 31 August 2011.
I have tried to make a dummy booking to see if it would be worthwhile to transfer across ponts from Amex and make a booking. The web site does not allow a dummy booking and says I have insufficient points to proceed further. I have not had a problem making a dummy booking before with Krisflyer.
Any suggestions or hints would be much appreciated.
