You sure it's double, not the 50% SC bonus offer that has been kicking around? Can you post the email/ screenshot?

There are plenty of different offers out there. I got a Double SC offer a few months ago (and made great use of it too).

You're right though, 1.5x SC offers are more common.

Same here. Would love a double-up.
I sometimes wonder if it is a case of booking too much i.e do we need to stop booking for a bit and go elsewhere.
Like with Woolies & Coles ... when one bar goes too high for offers, we switch to other other brand where the bar has been dropped very low and the offers roll in. Then we rinse and repeat as the bar rises too high.

Husband received the 50% SC offer but not me. We are both long time members but with no 'status' to speak of. I have double his points and SCs though so clearly Qantas are targeting a certain level !

My husband achieved qantas silver after recent trip to South Africa, with the 50% bonus good chance he might make gold on his next trip before August expiry.

Update is I booked husband for 1st august flight to South Africa has to return by 26th august to earn the 50% bonus SC, which he will do. Would have loved to have done it in July because his membership year expires 31st July, and the SC (360) for his flight with the bonus, would have taken him into Gold. Not to be, he needed to go August!!!! At least he will have qualified for next years silver!!!! Can anyone tell me if that means he would actually retain silver for two years??? As he gained silver in March 2015 and his status continues until Mar 2016?? If he qualifies Aug 2015 will it run through to July 2017?

My understanding is he's got silver until close of next membership year (Jul 2016) already. If that flight gets him over the line for silver in Aug, he'll have it until Jul 2017.

Thanks for your prompt reply footy99. His membership year ends 31st July 2015. So flying on 1st - 25th August 2015 means 360 SC go onto his new membership year which commences I presume 1st August 2015? So still unsure when the flights in this membership year will qualify him til?

My understanding is the rest of that membership year (Aug 1 2015 - Jul 31 2016) + the next membership year (to July 31 2017).

Absolutely. Why not!

I'm pretty sure that's right. He's qualified in March so that's valid for the rest of this membership year + next (to July 2016). The Aug flights will retain for the following membership year (to July 2017). And if he does get Gold by July 31 2016, that will be valid from whenever he gets it to July 31 2017.

Sorry I probably confused everyone. He qualified for silver after his flight in March 2015, so his silver status expires July 31 2016. So he has to start earning again from 1st august, which is when he is flying, so he will earn 360 Sc for that flight. those are the credits I was referring too 9as to when they would earn him too). he only needs 250 to retain his silver I know (hence the chase to try and get 700!!!).

Just think of it in terms of membership years. If you get the required no of status credits by the end of your membership year you have that status for the next membership year as well. So his membership year runs 1 August 2015 to 31 July 2016. He is retaining silver in August 2015, so that is before the end of his membership year ending 31 July 2016, so he keeps it for the following membership year I.e. 1 August 2016 to 31 July 2017. If he gets enough status credits to go gold before 31 July 2016 he will be gold for the remainder of his membership year plus the next one.

So that would not be a double SC offer, only 50%.

My husband who is qantas silver got the offer which we happily accepted. Unfortunately his commitment in South Africa was for August not July otherwise he would have achieved gold. Oh well there's always next year!

Just got one of these emails with one week to book, travel by sep 15 on a qf flight number.

Slight problem is I'm currently based in Shanghai. Anyone see any good value trips?
