Does VA do upgrades on points, internationally?

I’ve got a few VA frequent flyer points, gathered over the years, and recently wondered how many it’d cost to upgrade from economy on a trans-pacific flight.

It looks like VA only allows the use of points to ‘buy’ tickets, and don’t allow the use of points to upgrade a flight you’ve already bought?
If not - how?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes. Points upgrades are available.

However, points upgrades on TPAC flights from Y to J are only available to SG and WP on a Freedom fare...

Interesting , I was also thinking to upgrade my flight to LA using points but was not sure that's even a thing. If I happen to get lucky and upgrade my ticket from Elevate to Premium Economy / Business Saver will the status credits also boost ? Cheers.

Thanks!

Not that I'm likely to ever get to even Gold status … :)

It's not possible to upgrade flights to/from LAX using points from an Elevate fare, and if you were to upgrade from a Freedom fare, you would still get the points/SCs for the fare class originally booked.

Your best bet would be to bid for an upgrade using $, although you won't get any extra status credits for that either.
