Hi,

I was on the Centurion site reading up on the changes to the way points are earned.

In that section, down the bottom, it said, "Please note that this does not apply to the Centurion Business Card, contact your Account Development Executive for further information. "

It got me thinking... does the Centurion Business Card exist in Australia?
If so, what's the difference between it and the regular Centurion card?
Is there a cost difference, and is there a points earn difference?

And if there ISN'T one, why is it even mentioned on the Australian Centurion website?

Anyone know?

I've never heard of the Centurion business card here in Australia and from memory, doesn't exist here (happy to be disproved on this though). Seems to be big in the US.

I think it was launched this year??? Or it's coming....
I kinda overheard my RM mentioned something about it.
dont have the specific details tho.

They have been planning this for nearly year but still not released to market. I heard this one will REALLY be invite only and only for current Cent memebers with big business spend. I guess we'll find out when they're ready.

The product does exist I believe the last time I heard inside information on it, it was being trialed with selected customers. I think there are only a few differences between normal centurion and the "Business" centurion, but I don't think its anything special compared to the normal centurion

I asked my business RM in March and he said they are looking at it. Any way to earn more points is always a good thing. They have moved our majority of the spend to an industry specific card and a new tier of reward program with QF delete and 3 to 2 conversion for airline partners, so hopefully there is a way to get ome of my points back.

I can confirm that the Centurion Business Card DOES exist.

I received an invitation recently.

I can't see much difference between the original Centurion and the Centurion Business.

Annual fee is $4600.

The bonus points cap is 750000 like the normal Cent? Anything else different to the plat business card?

Yes, looks like point earn is the same as the other Centurion.

"You'll earn up to 2 points per dollar spent to a maximum of 750,000 points each year, and up to 1 point per dollar there after. The value of your Membership Rewards cap remains unchanged and is reset annually."

You'll earn 2 points:
  • at tens of thousands of restaurants in Australia
  • airlines, accommodation, major cruise and tour operators paid directly or through travel agents
  • spend in foreign currency, overseas or online
  • key national and regional advertising media channels
  • preferred national and local courier and freight distributors
  • select computer equipment and supply specialists excluding department stores and general computer suppliers

You'll earn 1 points:
  • Everything else, excluding the providers below

You'll earn 0.5 points:
  • Utilities, insurance (excluding Amex) and government bodies
Utilities = gas, water and electricity providers
Government bodies = ATO, Australia Post, federal/state and local government bodies.

Insurances seem the same.

Same Centurion Fare Guarantee

Other benefits are the same, such as:

  • Centurion En Route
  • Fast Trace
  • Qantas Club Lounge
  • Airport Club Access Program (Priority Pass)
  • Frequent Flyer Desk
  • Airline Privileges - i.e., cheaper Premium, Business & First class fares with Amex's partner airlines
  • Hotel Privileges - free night at Mandarin Oriental Hotel & Raffles Hotels
  • Elite Guess Status - SPG Gold, InterContinental Priority Club Platinum, Hilton Honors Diamond, Club 5C program with Relais & Chateaux.
  • Avis President's Club

If you have the original Centurion, I'm not sure what the benefit of the Centurion Business card is.
Why would you spend another $4600 on top of the $5000 you've already paid for the original Centurion card?

Did you get an invitation letter or a bigger package?
im curious if where the cost cutting ends.

Seems CX Diamond is not included.

My main aim is to get more points. I actually benefit quite well with the latest round of points change with the business card considering the circumstances: amex has move our main supplier to a new card to earn Ascent Business points instead of Premium, and another supplier moved away from accepting Amex.

Currently some of my suppliers charge through DHL, we use Aust Post for sending things to customers, but we can easily negotiate with another courier. However, our biggest spend on the plat business card is now advertising where I now get 2 points/$. 180xx_ points is roughly $5600 at only 3% claim rate - not including the tax advantage of the charge. I am actually getting most of my points back from the latest point structure and I will actually be in front if the bonus cap is raised. I won't be hitting the cap on the Cent however unless I move some of my expense around, but I have also asked what the situation is with Forex. If forex is on board, then I would have no problem maxing out on points.

It came in a cheap cough black envelope with an invitation letter and an information booklet, not a black box like the original Centurion.

There's no mention of CX Diamond.

I do note however, that the Rewards program is Ascent Premium which gives you 1:1 to most airlines.
This is better than the Business Ascent which is 3:2, where by you lose a third of your points during conversion.
So the question becomes, is the extra one third of points worth $4600 per year?

If they let me put through what goes through the Business Ascent card to Centurion Business - that would be a no brainer but I would serious doubt they will let me do it. If they only sent invitation to people who have Cent personal anyway, then there's no need for CX Diamond as it only applies to the primary card holder anyway.

Still no good reason to use either in my opinion. I don't spend a small fortune on restaurants and flying .
As a point of interest it was as a result of receiving a centurion card invitation that I / we came across themAFF site.
After a few days of research it was the contributors to this site that convinced us it wasn't worth the effort . Unless you were doing a lot of long haul international flying and similar spend in restaurants.
So thanks to the contributors here I am better off by about $4,500 per annum

It is I, Leclerc !
