Try these guys: Canon PowerShot G16 - Digital Camera Warehouse Australia.

$420 after a $50 cash back, vs $499 at JB post-cash back. Cash back deals are a pain, but it's helpful in this case because you'll be able to claim the GST back on the $470 purchase price, making the overall cost about $377 if my calcs are any good. Win!

That's an excellent price. It is $499 on Amazon and they are usually way cheaper.

Can't vote yet (low post count, I assume), but I always take a camera with me. MrDietCoke uses his phone - I don't feel like I have enough control over settings. I have shaky hands and the phone camera (in mine at least) just can't compensate for that at all.

I also use my phone for so many other things (GPS/maps/navigating, weather, games, social media, quick internet browsing...and very rarely as a device to call or text people) that taking photos would just add to the battery drain. With the rate I take photos, it'd be dead in a couple of hours.

I bought a G15 recently to take on a trip to the US and for the size and price I couldn't be happier with the quality of the shots I got.

I have a Canon G15 which has become my default for trips as it's compact enough while still taking great shots.

I too have a G15 and love the versatility without having to lug a bulky camera. I've managed to get some great macro and landscape shots with it. Highly recommended. Would love to try out the G16, though.
