This year we have ended this financial year with more points and miles than last year.
We have found it more difficult to book on Qantas points. Less difficult on Virgin and just a bit harder on Singapore Airlines.
We never redeem for economy.
How did you go this year?

More points on Qantas, far fewer on other schemes, even though I redeemed a couple of good international flights in Qantas - I tend to go for routes other than the popular ones - like S7 to Siberia :) . J availability always wide open! Through CC bonuses and normal cc spend, I replenished all the QFF points used, and more.

Far fewer LifeMiles and Krisflyer miles than last year - again, lots of redemptions. I found SQ pretty easy to get J or F out of Sydney or Brisbane. (Originating in Hobart, I always have a choice of my international departure port :)

Less...had quite a few upgrades. End of year 1st class booked SYD CDG LHR LAX SYD
Still have a few hundred thousand left but definitely less than last year
QF points

I ended less QF, more SQ (but only because I had to transfer my Amex accent points). Had my first - and a few more SQ R flights, and a number of CX J flights. Sent Mrs and no 2 miss Steady to Hkg and NLA in J and back to Oz in whY (well they will start back later today) overall burnt a heap of points in the last 12 months :)

More on VA as I’ve only redeemed a few Dom J flights and earns plenty from flights.
QF slightly less as I mainly redeem them for intra Asia flights which have great availability and the points are balanced out by a couple of CC bonuses.
Not much in the scheme of things but slowly building my DL miles

Burned through almost 600K QFF points for a family redemption to/from the US in J, 200K on family redemption to/from NZ in J, took about 12 months to bank that in the first instance and I'll be 1/3 of the way back there by next month, so it does feel as though earning has accelerated a little this year, but who knows? Wouldn't take much to calculate earn vs burn rates in my spreadsheet, what's missing is the free time to indulge in such analysis at the moment.

I'm also finishing the financial year with much fewer points. I've come to realise that the points are only going to become worth less over time and airlines can devalue them at any time without warning. So, best to spend while you can!

I'll start my next 280K Oneworld Award next week.

Compared to exactly 12 months ago - more. Got some credit card bonuses to start building up my VA account. Went on some work trips that earned me a chunk of QF points. Redeemed some dom J upgrades, and went to NZ flying EK SYD-CHC in F.

The barrier to me burning my points is that there's only so much one can fit in to 4 weeks a year of annual leave... and both this year and last year I'm spending some of that leave as extensions on work travel where the company is paying for me to fly in Y with no/minimal chance of upgrades.

I currently don't have a CC crediting to either program. Even so, more with VA, because I booked J DSC tickets, so more points. About the same QF this year.

I have whittled away my QF points. IMHO they are stellar for such frivolities as long haul EK redemptions, but in general I am seeing less and less value in points. I still have a gazzillion Lifemiles points, but haven't had the time to (a) understand their new system, and (b) actually have the time to have fun with redeeming them.

Fewer with QF - but soon to embark on our 2 x J One World Award (at a cost of around 600k with changes), booked in September/October 2018.
About the same with VFF - having transferred most to KF before the devaluation (and topped up since with a couple of credit card offers).
Loads more with KF - after AMEX and VFF pre-devaluation transfers earlier in the year.

At the start of this financial year, I almost have the flights for next 2 overseas holidays covered for Mrs Aus ATC and I - Canada/Hawaii in 2020 and a trip to Europe in 2021.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I work on a calendar year and despite my best efforts, six months into 2019 I have roughly what I started the year with despite redeeming 750k points in various airline and hotel programs. Not sure how that happened and I've done most of my bookings through the end of 2019.

Less points, but I used several hundred thousand getting people to a family wedding in Sri Lanka in February. Still have a few hundred thousand left which we're building up ready for MrsK's retirement later this year - so she can send me postcards from exotic locations, while I keep working away for a few more years

Fewer by half. But I also spent a fair bit of time up the pointy end over the last 6 months, so I'm not exactly complaining :)
