Happy weekend all,

I am looking at joining a tour of Egypt / Middle east from HKG, I am planning to go back to AUS HKG=>SIN=>MEL etc ,

On the way back from the tour it will be SQ CAI=>DXB=>SIN=>HKG.

Just wondering what will happen if I decide to ditch the tour packaged flight SIN=>HKG ? (save time and $$). Although it is part of the tour and the boarding pass was issued back in CAI etc ?

1. Will there be any problem leaving the SIN airport?

2. What will happen to my checked luggage ? if I have any ?

of course if I really do so I will tell the guide (at the time of leaving). :D

If you had checked luggage, it would have to be offloaded which could delay your flight for everyone else. It might be better to get it checked just to SIN and make your choice in either CAI or DXB.

The ticket from the tour is CAI=>HKG via DXB and SIN as transit stops,
I am not sure on this however they might not allow me to just check the bags to SIN.

Even if they offloaded the bags at SIN because I did a runner I am not sure where I can get my bags back without raising a lot of questions from immigration / staff etc ...:rolleyes:

So either just take carry on  or pay a little etc to have a fake "stopover" added on in SIN....

just wondering if anyone here have done the same thing.

Thank you all,

That's OK for my case because my intended SIN=>MEL is a separate booking anyway :D

I wouldn't screw with the Singapore ICA. That's all I have to say on the matter.

What are the flight numbers and city pairs?

That is if you are on a through plane service ie a single flight number CAI/HKG and your boarding pass reflects this then I sincerely doubt they would be able to 'short tag' your luggage through to SIN so I advise you to take your own advice below.

So either just take carry on  or pay a little etc to have a fake "stopover" added on in SIN....

If however it is one flight no. to SIN and a separate flight no. to HKG I see no reason why you would not be able to have your bags tagged to SIN.

Better still if they are separate flights I don't see any reason why you couldn't ask in Egypt to have your baggage tagged CAI/DXB/SIN/MEL. Then all you need to do is get your SIN/MEL boarding pass from the transit counter if you cannot OLCI.

Even if they offloaded the bags at SIN because I did a runner I am not sure where I can get my bags back without raising a lot of questions from immigration / staff etc ...:rolleyes:

Don't even go there. You could even get detained for questioning and miss your all important SIN/MEL flight as a result. How would you feel if you were one of the pax inconvenienced by offloading bags for a fail to board pax that resulted in you missing a downline flight connection or important event? Always put yourself in the other persons shoes when considering options like this.

Don't forget to get an Egyptian visa and make sure your passport has at least 6 months validity.

Cheers

Oz
