Compare this to QF where you can login from the homepage, QF seems miles in front.

To view any existing bookings once logged in, is more clicks than needs to be too.

Click on 'My Bookings' to view bookings.
Refresh with Red Box
Click on Red Box
Then bookings show up

Have you tried the Velocity Frequent Flyer tab??? That will make it two clicks!

Yes Markis10.

Wanted to point out that to newbies to VA (like me), getting around the VA website can be clumsy. The login button (top right, with arrow), should take people to the login section with 1 click, but it doesn't.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes - the whole site is clumsy and full of errors. The QF website is streets ahead in function ability and ease of use.

The Velocity/Virgin Australia websites don't seem to talk at all. If you are on Velocity and want to open a booking, you get directed to the VA page. If you are on the VA page and try to lookup something to do with Velocity, you get directed over to Velocity. Makes a lot of jumping back and forth.

However. I find making a booking fairly easy. After I've selected my flights it asks be to put in my Velocity # and Password and the system will fill in the rest of the info.

Only thing I would like to have changed is No set as the default option for travel insurance. I would much prefer not to have to untick the box every single time. Several times I've booked in a rush and forgot to uncheck it.

The other way that QF is ahead is looking at points + pay-very easily on QF but you basically have to go to the step before booking to see it on VA.

I have to agree that the QF site is far friendlier to log into.

DJ/Velocity is OK after you realise you need to:
a) bookmark the login page for Velocity; and
b) have both websites open

+1 for getting the irrits with the DJ/VFF sites.

I don't want 2 pages open! Once you click on VFF tab and it takes you to a new page (took a bit to realise it was a new page and not just a tab on the DJ site), the only way I have found to get back to DJ is from the logo at the bottom of the page, not very intuitive, like using a tab similar to the one you used to get there. And then that opens in a new window...aaargh!

After getting my match I was keen to familiarize myself with the site, and all that I achieved was getting the sh!ts.

As pointed out only 2 clicks are required. Same as for web check in - use the tab on the left.

Virgin/velocity is streets ahead of qantas simply because it allows you to login half way through a booking and populates your details. Qantas booking engine used to do this many years ago.but no longer does, so is miles behind. It absolutely gives me the Tom cough having to either start again or enter all my details, if I haven't logged in before finding that must have seat. Much more clicks and keystrokes wasted with qantas for me.

Does it allow you or FORCE you to log in half way? My recollection is that after logging in on the VFF page, and then while making the dummy booking (once I had figured out how to get back to DJ.com) I was then required to log in again if I wanted my VFF number against the booking?

Doesn't FORCE you to do anything. You always have a choice. It is possible to add a number to a booking afterwards. As for logging in first, remember velocity and DJ have separate website, as many have noted.

And as others have noted, the seperation between the two irritates them, including when your choices are either to log in twice or add your number to the booking postscript, rather than having the pages linked.

Basically all of the Virgin Australia web properties are cough for navigation and generally buying stuff (I agree, waaaaayy too many clicks needed). I'm hoping that with the move to having a single name (and presumably single res system?) at the end of the year they'll ditch the lot and start from scratch.

Sorry you also have the option to log in once. Don't forget that is also an option depending on what choices you make. I'm pretty thick about this stuff and even I only logged in twice, once. Even logging in twice is better than qantas, in the situation I mentioned.

Besides the issue mentioned here is the number of clicks to login. Only 2 clicks are required.
