Anyone had any experience with this? I have a DJ flight to AKL coming up soon, and it's on an NZ bird (so a DJ codeshare).

I attempted both online and via the call centre to allocate a seat and was told they cannot allocate NZ seats. OK, well that's bad but fair enough I suppose.

Question is two fold. a) Is this accurate and b) what kind of seating allocations have other VA Plats got on these codeshares if it is accurate (I was really hoping to try and get a reasonable seat, maybe even an exit row).

I got the same thing on a VA code on SQ. we ended up being allocated back row centre block on checkin. Inspiring stuff, and this being the worst seat in the house I guess my VA gold didn't mean anything. :)

VA code on SQ....are you sure? I thought you had SQ codes with VA FF in the booking.

Sent from my Telstra iPhone using the Australian Frequent Flyer application.

I did this 2.5 weeks ago, there's nothing you can do to allocate a seat. However, they block off the first row of Y for this very reason, so you'll still get a reasonable seat when you checkin at the airport (if you are there at a reasonable time). It's not uncommon to be offered Y+ or exit row seating, either.

Also, when at checkin ask them for a "Approved Hand Baggage" tag, as NZ are pretty strict on bag sizes at the gate, checkin staff are pretty relaxed about this for status pax.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get there very early as i'll be heading straight from work to take a 1830 flight so in all likelihood, it'll only be 60 minutes prior to departure when I arrive.

a) Yes. I even PM the Virgin rep here to be told that this was indeed the case.
b) They manually allocate you a "good" seat as DJ plat; from Syd-Akl, I was given a forward (row 8) window (I prefer aisle); and on the return I was given an aisle (row 13).

Thanks. I've flown NZ on NZ codes quite a few times as VA Plat and always had great seats/service. Hopefully they can get seating for codeshares sorted out at some stage:)

*edit*
And I just logged in to select a seat for my return which is on DJ metal, to find i've been pre-allocated 3C and no one else in row 3 at this stage. Can't complain at that (especially as it's a OMGO'clock flight home).

I just flew syd-zqn on a DJ flight number but NZ metal. Booked saver fare.

2 x plats and 1 x gold in my party of 4.

Could not book seats by calling both DJ and NZ call centre. Boarding passes all said DJ-G if gold or plat status.

Upon checkin got row 8. Told all seats further forward full. That was BS. Row 1-3 empty, a scattering in 4-6.

No special greeting etc from cabin crew. Maybe I'm spoiled with the A330 J service ;)

Not quite working for me this trans Tasman alliance unfortunately. Not yet anyway. Pity but expected more due to the large amount of status pax in my party.

You'll have to suck it up I think. I had a MEL-WLG via AKL booked with Virgin a week ago but the WKL-WLG leg was on Air NZ metal and while I could pre-select the MEL-AKL leg, I couldn't do anything with the AKL-WLG leg.

Back in May I was travelling with the wife and daughter (both Silver at the time) and we got row 3 on NZ metal. At the time I didn't think of it but I also got noise cancelling head phones. However the first rows were empty and my daughter was shifted there when her screen didn't work. She didn't complain.

I had the same experience on AKL-SYD on the way back, row 4 to myself, it was a very early flight so the crew assisted me in turning my row into a sky couch :D

I've posted this a couple of times on different threads.

The ability to select seats on NZ a/c (on DJ code share) will be available when DJ completes their transition to the sabre booking system later this year.

We have done this twice from MEL-AKL and have been looked after on each occasion. Exit Row seats on the A320 and PE upgrade on the B777. The Koru Club manager in MEL explained that she actually looks at the bookings and does what she can to help DJ status pax.

Great to hear. If I don't get a reasonable seat at check-in, i'll check with the lounge (at present, my flight is looking pretty damn full with most of the front half of the 767 being fully allocated unfortunately).

Yes the SQ Check in system doesn't indicate DJ status.

Hi all,

Can someone advise how long it generally takes for for Air NZ flights to be posted to Velocity? FYI ticket was booked and paid through Air NZ and my velocity membership number was on the e-ticket and boarding pass.

Thanks!

Not really the right thread ;) but it's usually within a few days, a week at most. If your VA FF number was on the NZ BP, it should happen pretty quickly.

My last NZ flights were in March:
05 Mar 1204 Mar 12Auckland-Melbourne200
04 Mar 1202 Mar 12Melbourne-Auckland200

Activity dates of 2 and 4 MAR were credited 4 and 5 MAR respectively, so pretty quickly!

Cheers mate. On second look my BP doesn't actually have my velocity number. Under commented it has "FQTV DJ" and "DJ-G".

I assume they would still have my membership number in their system?

If it has that then they have your velocity number.
All of my NZ BP's had the same thing on them
