Hi
Being a Velocity gold member and flying on Delta for a domestic flight in US, do I get Delta lounge access for myself and partner who will be on the same ticket, or is lounge access only for the gold member as the info I found below confuses me as it only talks about Guests holding confirmed Business class boarding pass can have lounge access........and then in next paragraph it says Gold members can be accompanied by a guest free of charge (no mention of business class for guest)

I found this posted by crazydave back in 2009

37 Delta Airline Lounges in the United States (lounge locations can be found at www.delta.com/clublocations) can now be accessed by the following Virgin Blue/VAustralia Guests:

Gold Velocity Members* with boarding pass for same day V Australia, Delta Airlines or Northwest operated flight as part of an international itinerary
Gold Velocity Members* with boarding pass for same day V Australia, Delta Airlines or Northwest operated flight as part of a domestic itinerary
Guests holding confirmed Business Class boarding pass for same day V Australia, Delta Airlines or Northwest operated flight as part of an international itinerary.

*Gold Velocity Card holders must present their membership card in addition to boarding pass to be given access. Upon presentation of Gold Velocity Membership card and boarding pass, Gold Velocity Members can be accompanied by a Guest free of charge when travelling on a DJ/VA/DL/NW flight.

Any info on how your interpret the aboue would be appreciated.
Thanks

Many thanks for the link, I missed that when I was searching the Velocity site.

Hi All

I am currently travelling through the US and have entered a number of DL Skyclubs on a domestic economy ticket. I'm happy to report that so far, I have had none of the issues that other AFF members were having with regards to non access due to not having an international connection (which is the Skyteam rules, even for DL SkyMiles top tier members). I have entered SkyClubs in SLC, SAN, ATL and MSY. The lounge angels simply swipe your velocity card, where access rules come up for them (including that the guest need not be travelling on an international connection) and you are warmly welcomed in.

I want to thank VA for fixing this issue as I thought I would have to struggle a bit more than I have to gain access.

Thanks for the update. Are you traveling on Delta domestically, or is this Any Time Access? The reason I ask is that they offer a $90 30 day pass, for access to their lounge, all you need is an onward ticket with ANY airline (includes a guest too!), so I was wondering if they offer that to other types of 'members'.
Also wondering if you used it on arrival at LAX without a Delta domestic connection?
Thanks, and happy travels!

Two Simple Questions: I am travelling BNE -> LAX on a QF flight (using some old points up). I will then board a Delta flight from LAX -> SLC. I am a platinum with VA, will Delta still charge me for X2 bags being a plat? Second question: Does the 'domestic' Delta sky lounge at LAX have a shower in it?

Any help would be appreciated :)

They definitely have a shower. I think youll still be charged for the bag though.

Will Delta charge for 1 bag being Platinum with VA, if booked in Y?

The VA / DL agreement includes no real status recognition. I've just noticed this new page on the Velocity website which includes a handy matrix of partner benefits:
https://www.velocityrewards.com.au/content/Status/international-airline-partner-benefits/index.htm

Delta offers nothing beyond lounge access to Velocity members - so as per the DL baggage allowance page - Baggage Allowances on Flights - yes, you'll need to pay $25 for your first bag and $35 for subsequent bags. At least, this is what I'm assuming will be necessary for my US trip next month.

That's what I thought. Even though I put my Velocity number in to the booking with Delta on their website, I note that it says specifically 'no free bags' on the e-ticket. That is disappointing, but fair enough.

My suggestion is to just ask - I had arrived at LAX from MEL on VA and had a different ticket on Alaska to SEA (booked directly with Alaska). I went to the check-in kiosk and paid for my bag. When I went to drop my bag off they told me to contact their customer service people and ask for a refund for my bag as they allow a free bag for international 'connections'.

I might ring. The flight in question is to LAS, i will store my bag and just take carry on for the weekend.

Travelling Delta domestically.

Wasn't offered it, but I guess that's because I didn't need it.

Also wondering if you used it on arrival at LAX without a Delta domestic connection?

I was travelling QF to LAX (awards redemption), and I was staying in LA for a few days, so wouldn't have been entitled. Be interesting to know whether this would apply if flying VA or DL from Oz though.

Thanks, and happy travels!

No probs MandM

I flew first with Delta and had my bags checked through to SYD. I had 4 bags, they charged me $100 for the 4th bag (1st 3 bags on First are free)....was a real hassle at the time. Personally i can't stand the Delta Lounges in the US...not much on offer and usually pretty full

4 segments in last 2 days on DL - 2 in F, 2 in Y. Both through ATL.

Lounge access given in ATL with VA WP pass (yes, both times 5 min wait whilst looking it up).

On the 2 Y segments, i got to the airport early so requested flight change ti earlier flight. Normally $50 change fee, but with VA WP, she did it for free. Then checked a bag - she swiped my VA card in the computer and it said that one bag would be $25. So she could not waive that fee it appears.

I went with Delta in Y and F last week as well, took agents some time to read the conditions to allow me into Lounge. One agent refused, but when I gently asked he read carefully Virgin Australia, he found it and I was allowed in. (I am Plat).

I'm travelling SYD-LAX-SFO on Wednesday on VA connecting to DL. Hope there is no problems getting into any of the lounges, I'd really like a shower.

What if I am booking DL but on AF metal? Do the Delta "benefits"/point earn/SC still apply?
