Date change on redemption booking

I have a CX redemption ticket flying QR for which I would like to change the date on the inbound journey by 1 day. CX shows the flights as available on their website (as does BA) however the call center insist that the flight is waitlisted.

Does anyone know why this might be the case?

It may be phantom availability. Unfortunately lots of booking tools suffer from this... QF, BA for example show phantom CX seats (seats which have already been taken but haven't updated/reflected on the system yet).

It's certainly worth a second call though to make sure the operator was looking correctly.
