Hi AFFers

Could some knowledgeable experts confirm whether CX can interline baggage with LH at all ?

This 2012 post on FT said YES but it would be nice to know it they still exists in 2015.

Thanks

EDIT:

Answer is from EF - I just realised after posting

It is a YES.

I don't know whether CX would only interline bags to LH for same pnr as EF does not differentiate.

What is the routing involved?

CX can definitely check bags SYD-HKG-FRA, and assuming you're on LH through to VIE then that'll be fine too. They may or may not issue you boarding passes for the LH flights in Sydney. I believe they've been trained to but in my experience they still probably won't. Not a big issue.

Is there some CX source somewhere that supports what EF states ?

Just curious, not that critical really.

EF is only accurate for bookings either on the same ticket or at the very least the same PNR. If not on the same PNR (i.e. separate bookings), it depends on the through-checking policy of the originating airline. In this instance all EF says that it may be possible depending on CX policies (as opposed to say 3K, which it will not through check to irrespective of policy).

This is what I found - see page 18, point 9.4.7

It does not shed any more light on what EF states which is "... possible...".

Would be nicer to have an authentic CX source.

A friend is travelling FRA-xHKG-SIN with CX and then SIN-PER with SQ on a separate ticket. Am I correct in reading the first post that she can get her bagged checked through to PER?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Not officially allowed, since the recent changes to oneworld interlining.

In that case, supplementary question: If she gets her BP at the SQ transit desk in SIN, can they arrange to collect and retag the luggage?

If not then she will just have to go through immigration to do it herself, but I would rather keep the complexities to a minimum.

They should be able to. Generally the consensus on AFF is there's pretty good luck with getting that done.

Although to be safe, it's probably better to get it retagged herself, just for peace of mind.

Transfer desk not a problem getting boarding pass and transferring luggage.

I've only ever had 1 issue with luggage not making it to SYD until next day but have had many transits via SIN.
