Hi All,

Have emialed this question to Asia Miles Cust Service but am yet to get a reply - perhaps they are still having problems with commications post their system upgrade?

Am tvlling MEL-HKG-CDG return in J (I) next month. I used to fly CX quite a bit to HKG but switched to QF (and the QF FF) when those horrible J class 'fishbone' seats came out (which they are now doing away with!). So I have used my QF FF number in this booking to get the SC's and points allocated to my QF account.

But I have something like 49,000 Asia Miles points due to expire soon. An upgrade to F from J is 50,000 so I guess I am wondering if I spend the USD $60 and 'top up' with 2000 extra miles can I use these points to request an upgrade even through I have not registered this flight to my Asia Miles / Marco Polo account?

So I would appreciate any thoughts / advice!

Cheers,

Dave

You might need to switch numbers for the upgrade to happen, before switching back to get the SC’s posted to Qantas, but I can’t see why you couldn’t use your AsiaMiles, so long as the fare allows it.

You'll need to call them to ask - their Service Centres are completely overloaded at present due to the System Upgrades

Thanks guys - thought it would need to be a phone call thing rather than just an email.....

And Sam good suggestion - certainly hadn't thought of that!

Cheers

Good luck - I hope it's possible to mix and match like you propose!

AFAIK, if you depart from SYD you will get the new CX J cabin:mrgreen:

Shouldn't be an issue with any airline. Book flights using one FF number and then change FF number at the airport at check-in. Have done this a few times with *Alliance and no issues so far.
